“Yum!”

Struggled to get a reservation by phone so called in and spoke to the manager who fit us in at 9.30pm. Excellent choice on the menu and daily specials. I can recommend the artichoke soup with scallops and the duck was cooked perfectly. My friend had fillet steak and said it was very good. We had a bottle of Hungarian wine which was delicious and reasonably priced. Worth a visit. Tables are close together.

“Still shining; booking essential, also on weekdays”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

A favourite restaurant, and thus one might wonder why do I bother to write about it again. I do because it is an unfailingly good bistro-type place, with very fine food and great wine selection. And to warn would.be visitors to either go early (the place does not close between lunch and dinner) or phone ahead to book a table. Closed on Sundays. There is a decent series of daily specials - but only a few portions prepared from each, so those are quickly sold out. I would suggest to have more vegetarian dishes - the chef can raise to the challenge, i am sure. The welcome bites include excellent breads - possibly a more exciting kind of butter or olive oil would lift this. And my bee-in-the-bonnet: the obsession with the frutti di mare and sea fish (although here freshwater fish is always available). The service is excellent - just right for the place. Keep it up!

“Much ado about .. very little!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

After having dined at Zeller Bistro, we thought this will be the top of the trip, as we are true foodies.
We had a reservation at 6 pm and were asked to leave by 8 due to the late reservation and fully booked place- fair enough.
We have ordered the sea urchin- and it was really not fresh. I don't know how my girlfriend ate it, i was luckier and went for the duck, which was quite good. The waiter has decided to ditch us for other guests because we spoke Hungarian and did not look interesting enough and it took us a while to get him to the table to be able to order some different wine.Main course was Angus steak with some sides i don;t recall anymore and i had the local catfish grilled. This was also quite good. After some more waving and uninterested service we also got the dessert (cheese) which was ok but nothing exciting. All in all, we were pretty disappointed by that time. The bill did not change our minds, it was super-expensive. Maybe it was a bad day, but this is not worth a second visit.

“Well Worthy of Top Rating”

An informal but attentive atmosphere where the staff are very knowledgeable. As with many of the previous reviewers we allowed the waiter to select wine by the glass for each different dish, thus allowing us to taste and enjoy wines we would otherwise not have tried.

The food was excellent both in terms of the quality and the presentation with a good and varied menu.

The prices may be higher than many restaurants in Budapest but I would recommend a visit to this restaurant at least once during a stay in Budapest.
