If you love (or even like) art-this place is definitely for you! Brody House is like no other place I have ever stayed in-so full of character and atmosphere. I don't think that any future hotel/b&b will be able to live up to this experience.
The staff are lovely and speak really good English. Continental breakfast really tasty with an option of ordering other items (for a really small charge).
We stayed in the Claret room with a grand bath in the corner of the room and really comfortable bed. No TV but we didn't mind. My husband was slightly disappointed with lack of tea making facilities (he is very English like that :) but I am sure that if he only asked-the staff would make him a cuppa. They want to make you feel like at home-and I certainly did.To the point where I wanted to stay on the premises in the evening which NEVER happens to me. The house has got an honesty bar and really cool rooms to hang out in.
It is literally a hidden gem (no official sign on the front door)-make sure you write down the address before setting off.
I was considering not telling anyone just to be able to keep this place a secret...but wasn't able to stop raving to people about this amazing place as soon as we got back! Already considering going again next year!

Room Tip: All rooms are different, some of them may be too "full on" for certain people-go to the Bro...

We stayed here for a few nights and loved it. This is by far the coolest hotel we've ever stayed in, but what made Brody House so fantastic was the lovely staff, who were genuinely welcoming and helpful. It's also in a really great central location, which was ideal for taking in the sights of Budapest.

We enjoyed 5 very pleasant nights in the Claret Room at Brody House. Brody House was very conveniently located for getting around Budapest using public transport and the neighbourhood felt very safe. The breakfast was fresh and filling - particularly enjoyed the onion bread and croissants. Other options included cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit and cheese. If you wanted more, a cooked breakfast and some other options were available (at a cost). The staff were very helpful.

There were a number of "events" with music performances whilst we were there and lots of interesting artworks to look at.

Wifi worked really well in our room and elsewhere in the hotel.

The negatives were:
1. the lack of a lift - you have to carry bags up 2 floors (very high ceilings so the are a lot of steps).
2. No fridge in the room.
3. No safe in the room
4. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room or the common rooms
5. No TV (not an issue for us but for others it may be)

We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends

Booked in to the Brody House for 2 nights during the Hungarian grand prix 2012. Really great place and glad my wife picked it. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Rooms were spacious, clean with a touch of communist flare about them. Breakfast was well cooked with plenty of choice. All in all a really good hotel in a centrally located area of Hungary. I would recommend this to anyone.

This is located in a very old building in downtown. When my wife saw the outside she wondered at my judgement, but when she saw our room she was enthralled. A huge room and bathroom. Art on the walls. The whole house was extremely 'artsy' with common things filling uncommon uses. Such as the door with the hinges still attached as the headboard to our bed, and the antique sled used as a coffee table in the large comfortable common living room. A guitar, violin and baby grand piano are available for you to play, but they ask that no music after 10 PM to let everyone sleep. An honor system mini-bar in one of the common rooms is always open, and the drinks are iced down in the evenings. The breakfast room is large and a nice breakfast is served. The front desk people are very happy to help you with questions or to mark places on the map they give you.

What a nice place. We had the family apartment on the back with 2 nice sleeping rooms. Great atmosphere, clean and lovely bathroom. The breakfast room is really nice with a piano and art. Probably one of the best I have very stayed for a city trip especially when you see the price. TOP

Room Tip: Go for a good meal to the restaurant on the corner.

We had a very pleasant stay at Brody House. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Location was good. Staff very helpful and gave a great restaurant recommendation. Be aware you will need to climb two flights of stairs, no lift, with bags when checking in and out. One suggestion - we liked the honesty bar but it would have been better if the drinks were cold
