“Outstanding performance”
Reviewed May 2, 2012

We watched "Cats" musical in completely full theatre on Saturday evening. The show was fantastic, really something special. Top-notch performance was followed by a long, long ovations. Book your tickets in advance and enjoy!

“Phantom of the Opera - fantastic singing/great show!”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

My son found out before we left that this theatre was playing "Phantom of the Opera". Thank goodness he did because we saw absolutely no adverts in Budapest! We went directly to the theatre where we were able to buy two tickets (6200 HUF each - about 20 Euros) for the Friday night performance.

The orchestra was live - the singers were just fantastic. Yes, the singing was in Hungarian but it was subtitled in English. So, if you can, get a balcony seat so you don't strain your neck looking between the players and the subtitles at the top of the stage.

Can highly recommend!

“we saw Joseph here which was great”
Reviewed April 2, 2011

We saw Joseph here on 24 March. Before the visit I kept remindning myself that this is not the West End in London so I shouldn't expect anything amazing. But the show was fantastic. They had English subtitles which is helpful. The theatre was packed to capacity. The performers all had amazing voices, the show probably didn't have as an amzing set as a West End production but it was full of fun ideas. Loved every minute of it. In the interval they sell pretzels in the bars which cost about £1.30, they are very nice. An observation: Hungarian audiences clap in a funny way. They start off quietly, the clapping gets quicker and quicker and then all of a sudden it goes back to slow again. And it all happens in unison. It's hard to describe but we saw it in the Palace of arts as well. It's most interesting. Back to the theatre: our visit was great, we would definitely recommend it.
