“Lukewarm coffee”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

Only went for drinks so cannot comment on the foods, but received lukewarm coffee, tea that tasted like fish and paid through the nose for it. Fine, if you like that sort of thing.

“Japanese nightmare”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

After arriving in Budapest about a year ago, I went to Nobu since I was already familiar with their high quality level of service from the ones in the US. A few months later, I went to Nobu for lunch with some Japanese colleagues, where we all ordered their 'mix-and-match' bento box. I was quite ok with what I got that time, but it became evident during my 2nd visit that they cannot deliver. They cannot take the order right, or present the right bento box to the right customer, the food didn't taste the same each time (i.e. veal teriyaki being spicy one day where it should never be), and even came with wrong condiment for what we had ordered. The wait staff should visit one of the Nobu restaurants in the US to realize that they have a lot of learning to do. If you want to localize the restaurant, fine, but let's not claim the same level of high quality service which their oversea colleagues worked so hard to established and they are here to drive it to the ground.

“More of the same”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

Nobu is a the McDonalds of the high end Sushi world and the Budapest franchise varies little from the overpriced, tired Japanese fusion on display elsewhere in the world. The high prices at Nobu may have been justified when there was one restaurant, but these days there are about 30 of them around the world and the whole concept is stale. If you want to splash out on high end food in Budapest, head to some of the top class local restaurants like Onyx or Costes, instead of eating the same old thing at Nobu.

“Best Asian food I've ever had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

I've heard about Nobu many times and always wondered what the hype was about, until I tried it this week. We had the Nobu bento box, which had the Black Cod and all the other goodness that goes with it! Everything was super tasty and would highly, highly recommend trying it out!
