A amazing experience, not only thanks to our guide and mentor, Mr Andraz, but also to his lovely parents for giving us a wonderful time. We were picked from our apartment and taken to his home for a fabulous lunch. Learnt a lot of Hungarian culinary knowledge, apart from the general knowledge. Fabulous tour and worth it.

This review is a little different as we are a boutique tour company that travels all over the world and we have the pleasure to work with some of the best guides in the business. Well let me tell you, Andras (Andrash) fits right into that category of super guide who truly cares.

Imagine a day where you start with coffee in a local coffee house and have time to talk politics, culture and history with a local history professor. After coffee and a better understanding, you have a wonderful overview tour of Budapest.

On most tours that would be enough, but you now have the option to go out into the suburbs, to a tree lined street and have lunch right in your guides family home, unforgettable! After lunch we went to a local dance studio for a private classical concert of Gypsy / Hungarian music including context and explanations. Magical.

After that, it's on foot for a walk through the historic quarter to feel the buzz and atmosphere of this ancient city. A full day of fun.

So without hesitation, we recommend if you want a truly a unique feel of the food, history, music and people of Budapest, book the Soul of Budapest experience. Andras and My personal Budapest is now our first stop when visiting the city with groups.

Well. We thought that the trabant car was cool but balazs was even cooler. The car received stares wherever we went. Balazs was the man in the know. The hidden gems were putty in his hands as he regaled us with stories and anecdotes of Budapest past and present. Weaving majestically through the traffic caused by road blocks due to a run happening he still managed to cover all parts from the bullet holes in the parliament to the ruin bars in the Jewish district. If you only organise one thing in Budapest. Do this. You won't regret it

Our two half-day tours with Balázs were the highlight of our trip! He did an amazing job, on many levels - he's well-informed, lively and engaging, with a quick wit and great sense of humor. He also managed our very diverse group beautifully. I've been to Budapest to visit family four times but had not seen many of the main sights. My boyfriend had never been to Budapest. We speak zero Hungarian. My sister and niece grew up there and speak zero English. Balázs managed to provide fascinating commentary, and entertainment, in TWO languages without skipping a beat. He created tours of the city and of the Jewish area that balanced more serious topics and places with the fun and fascinating. He also led us to some great food (including a better Sacher Torte than the Hotel Sacher in Vienna.) We also appreciated his kind, open nature as he shared things about his own life and endeavors that expanded our understanding of Hungarian culture and worldview. On top of all of this, zipping around in his vintage Opel was great fun!

Came to Budapest from the US after a cruise to Baltic countries to visit my ancestors' homeland. We booked 2 tours - one to experience a real home-cooked meal with a Hungarian family, and one to visit the town our grandparents came from. Our tour guide, Andras, took us to his family's home, and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting his parents and having a wonderful meal! By the time we left, it felt like we were saying goodbye to family!
My cousin mentioned he would really like to try the Hungarian blood sausage he grew up with. Andras offered to meet us on another day to take us to a butcher to get the real thing. He genuinely wanted to show us the best of Hungary and Budapest. Unfortunately our schedules got messed up and we were unable to meet with him, but his offer to take us was incredible. This was not a tour; he just offered to do something above and beyond to ensure we were making the most of our visit. I can't even put into words our experience on the second tour, which was custom-made. Andras not only drove us to the town our grandparents were from (which in an of itself was AMAZING), but he proactively contacted the town hall in advance of our visit to find out if anyone could help us find out more information about them. When we arrived, through a series of miraculous encounters with locals, we met a woman who knew a lot about the town. We were greeted warmly by her and invited to her home on the fly. Neither my cousin nor I speak Hungarian, so we relied on Andras to translate all conversation between us. She immediately started researching on the computer, and long story short, I found out she and I are related through my great great grandmother on my mother's side! What an incredible moment for both of us! She took us to the cemetery where we found the graves of more ancestors as well as her own grandparents and parents. It was hard to say goodbye, knowing I had family in another part of the world! But we hugged and kissed and exchanged contact information. And my cousin learned some very interesting facts about some of his relatives. We would not have had such an emotional visit if it was not for Andras's determination to find answers for us and his genuine love of his country. I can not put a price tag on this amazing and incredible experience!
