My husband, daughter and I have just come back from an amazing trip to Austria, Slovakia and Hungary and I have to say, our day with Andras was one of the highlights. We are very interested in history and in seeing things from a local perspective and Andras more than fulfilled our expectations which were high based on the feedback given here by others. The Trabant tour was very fun, and as others have expressed, we felt like we were the tourist attractin at times! Lunch with Andras' parents is a must do. We were taken into their home as guests and felt like we had made new friends. Hopefully they will contact us if they ever make it to Norway :) The tour to Szentendre was very nice and Andras never made us feel stressed although we aren't the quickest of tourists...taking about 500 pictures! I highly recommend this trip...you will never forget it!

My "MyPersonalBudapest" tour was shared by my husband and 21 year old daughter and customised by email to suit our interests by Andras. This was our second visit to Budapest, so we opted for "10 hidden treasures - things not found in guide books" which were varied and fun, particularly with Andras to chat with on the way. The Art Nouveau cafe was interesting, the Central Europesn Jewish cake was good, the fountains were fun, the pub in a ruined building was zany and the remnants of the ghetto wall very moving. Andras parents were great hosts for lunch, and it is always good to get out of a city centre and see what it is really like yo live there. With the help of the Hungarian / English and English / Hungarian parts of the dictionary, we all found we could talk about anything, and felt like we had made new friends. Perhaps when you visit, Andras's mother will be trying out the Scottish gingerbread recipe we have since sent her. The next morning we had the pleasure of visiting Mr Fellegi for a concert of Liszt, Bartok, Chopin and Bach all played with not only skill but Hungarian fervour. My daughter is a pianist and post-graduate music student, so we had arranged this as a treat for her, but all three of us enjoyed it very much. It was actually rather sad parting with Andras. like others, we felt we had made a new friend. The cost of the tour was not unreasonable for what was provided. Andras is knowledgable, well organised, flexible and very good company. his tours are well worth a go.

I travel a lot, and when I get time from work to explore a place that I have never been, I want someone local to show me around. This experience did not disappoint. Andras Novak is an enterprising entrepreneur with a personal touch, and he has named his business well. After customizing my tour via his website, he contacted me to make certain that my selections were going to meet my needs. We modified my first selection, and as a result, the second half of my day was spent at a beautiful family run vineyard about 45 minutes out of Budapest. My work colleague and I did his "best of" tour, and it was perfectly fine for an overview of the city. We saw all the top sites, and it gave us enough to know which places to visit on our own. Budapest is spread out, and it would be difficult to walk all the sites, so Andras's driving us around was the way to go. We were treated to lunch my his most delightful parents, and with an excellent menu, the conversation was very pleasing. His mother is a wonderful cook, and we teased her that she is becoming world famous on TripAdvisor! His father was a gracious host, and the warmth of their home made our visit unique. I have never been invited into someone's home as part of the tour, and I certainly enjoyed. After a leisurely and delicious lunch, we headed to the country for a great wine tasting. Glasses were filled with Sauvignon Blanc, Cuvee, and Pinot Noir, and we got some great lessons on the local varietals. I came home with two bottles, too! All in all, I recommend MY PERSONAL BUDAPEST for the traveler who wants to learn enough of the city without doing the standard tour guide stuff, and for someone who wants a personal, local connection. I was glad I stayed the extra day before returning home to the US after by business meeting.

I found this tour here on Trip Advisor. After reading all the reviews, I emailed Andras. I explained that we had children and their ages, 6 and 11. I explained what I was looking for in a tour. He was very fast at returning my email and had sent some ideas for me to look over. After review, I sent my choices to him. Everything was scheduled and a price was agreed.
The day of the tour he met us at our hotel on time and was very excited to meet us and show us his country. We started out on the Trabant tour. The lttle cars were so cute. My children just loved them. The tour took us all over from the Gellert Hill, Castle District, Around Parliament and Central Pest. There were many stops for sight seeing and photos. When we would stop and get out of the Trabant cars everyone would be looking, because the cars are so neat. My husband said, he felt like he was part of a tour. It was really cool.
After the Trabant tour we headed for Andras home for lunch. We were greeted by his parents upon arrival. They were so kind and made all of us feel welcome. The luch was wounderful. We had chicken soup, Hungarian chicken paprikas, home made noodles and Hungarian cake. Everyone one had seconds it was so good. After coffee on the patio we departed to our next adventure.
We were on our way to a ceramic workshop near Szentendre. Laszlo and Gabriella the owner of the shop showed us around and then the kids got involved in making bowls. They both did such a great job. A thank you to them for the gift that they share. We then drove to the little town of Szentendre. After arriving and walking around we purchased our memories and headed back to Budapest after walking along the Danube. Such beauty in this part of the world.
We had a little time available before our river boat tour. My family and Andras found a nice spot near the dock to sit and rest. Andras helped my husband chose a nice glass of red wine for him and a white for me. We talked about everything we had just experienced and thanked him for showing us Budapest. We will be returning in the fall and doing the wine tour without the kids. :}
Thank you, see you soon Andras!!!
