Silver Hotel Budapest
Ranked #139 of 191 Budapest B&B and Inns
Reviewed October 22, 2010

Easy to enter the building, if you know someone, who lives there, since the first 3 floors are regular apartments. While we stayed there, the hotel room next to us was burglarized. The hotel is not in a safe area of the city. Do not walk alone on the street at night.

I stayed here at the beginning of September. You need to press 1 on the entryphone to get in (new guests had problems with this, as he entrance isn't immediately obvious).
Rooms are very comfortable and clean, although I personally found the bed a little hard for my liking, and unlocking the doors can sometimes be problematic due to the secure lock mechanism. I spoke to reception about this, so I hope it's been sorted. If not, make sure they explain in detail how to unlock them. My room did look unfinished, as an electrical socket was stil missing, and there was piping and wiring coming out of the wall at one point (high up, so not a problem, but cosmetically unpleasing).
The breakfasts are adequate at best - tea/coffee, bread, eggs, cheap frankfurters, ham , cheese, egs and yogurts every day. A bit of variety would be nice!
Transport links are excellent - the metro is 2 minutes away, and Pest city centre and Heroes Square are a 15-20 minute walk (in opposite directions) at most.
Reception is open 24 hours a day - multitilingual and always extremely helpful. Make sure you get a magnetic token from them when going out. This gets you back in without having to beep reception.
All in all, a very pleasant stay

The Silver hotel is a new hotel. It just opened in may 2010. The staff are helpful and polite. David was wonderful in helping plan things to do; he speaks English perfectly . The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood but near the yellow line metro and not far from the tram number 6 and 4. the rooms are spacious and clean. The linens were good quality. The bathroom average size with a shower. the breakfast was fine: eggs, meat, bread, cheese and coffee or tea. There is internet in the lobby.
