“Ok Hotel”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

The hotel itself was fine and was close to grocery stores (and fast food) and the main train stain. But the streets around the station were not the safest. Also make sure to know how to get to the hotel from the train station. It is close, but unless you know where you are going it is easy to walk around for a while.

Dear HP62442,

thank you for posting your feedback on Tripadvisor.com. We are pleased to read that you liked our hotel and its location.

I'm happy to tell you that the construction works of a new metro line (M4) will be terminated in the next few weeks, so after that, this area will shine again, as before it did.

I really hope that we can welcome you again to the Royal Park Boutique Hotel.

Sincerely yours,

Ákos Csaba VARGA

I stayed with my wife and relatives in the hotel 3 days. Everything in the hotel was fine. I even got a birthday champagne. It was a pleasent surprise. I recommend this hotel to everyone. Hotel is nicely situated close to the center and to the underground.

I was sent to the Royal Park by another hotel (due to overbooking). It is a pleasant enough place – clean, with very friendly staff, free Wi-Fi and a bar (open until 11pm). The rooms are not huge but comfortable and the standard rooms have good showers in them (I believe there are baths in the ‘superior’ rooms). Breakfast includes a fairly wide range of different things. However, the hotel lacks charm – it is fairly new and has the feel of a Travel Lodge or Premier Inn or somewhere similar (ie clean but a bit bland - the dining room is made up of plastic chairs and tables, for instance). Also, if you are sharing a room with someone, make sure you are with someone that you wouldn’t mind showering or sitting on the toilet in front of – one of the bathroom walls (which forms part of the shower wall), is a window which is only frosted on the bottom half meaning you can see straight in the bathroom if standing in the bedroom! The hotel is conveniently situated near a metro station but the area surrounding it is rather insalubrious with rather ‘dodgy-looking’ characters hanging around, particularly in the evening. All in all, worth staying there if you can get a good price for the room but I would have much rather stayed in my first-choice hotel.

We just got home from Budapest, and the first thing i wanted to do, is write a review about our hotel!
It was a great stay, everything was as i wanted it to be, the staff was very friendly, they speak good english, i got the room i ordered, non smoking and quiet, it was clean, breakfast was yummy! The location is perfect, next to Keleti, so all the traffic connections are just around the corner!
I loved every single thing about the hotel. The shower is great, but i was there with my partner, i guess if you are traveling with friends, its a little funny, because of the see through glass :)
I hope we will return to Budapest, and we are defenitly going to Royal again!

This hotel struggles to justify calling itself "boutique".
Its strong points are proximity to Kalati station , and thus the metro. The street it is in, and the general area around the station, are pretty grubby.
We paid to be upgraded to a "Superior Room", which they claim includes a basket of fruit and a a bottle of champagne. Neither appeared. The only real advantage of such a room is that it has a bath and shower instead of only a shower.
Our room was not properly serviced , so our cups used for making tea in the morning were not washed or replaced.
Also be wary of offers which include a "welcome drink on arrival". When you get there you will find it's only a soft drinl.

Our family stayed at this hotel in July, 2013. We reserved three rooms and were happy with everything. The hotel is very modern, clean and has a pleasant little bar in the lobby that was open until 1:00. It is very near the train station. It is a 30 min walk to the city center but that was not a problem. There are not too many restaurants near the hotel but found a few and ate at a very good pizza place recommended by the hotel. The breakfast was great and had a great assortment of choices with excellent coffee.

I have just come back from our 3-day trip in Budapest. We chose this hotel because it looked very nice, because it seemed that it is good value for good price and because of location (it is just maybe 200 metres from train station Budapest-Keleti). Furthermore, we found a voucher for our stay in this hotel (with one bottle of sparkling hungarian wine and late-check out in addition).

First - pros of the hotel
- very near to metro station and train station Budapest-Keleti - good when you arrive by train
- clean, quite new hotel
- air condition in rooms
- we could check-out at 2 p.m., that was quite comfortable
- supermarket in front of the hotel (Spar)
- good coffee at breakfast
- comfortable mattresses
- map of Budapest they gave us when we arrived

Cons of the hotel - unfortunately, much more
- no restaurant
- deposit 50 Euro for minibar - nobody told us (and we sent a lot of e-mails in advance)
- due to location, there were homeless people, bothering and begging for money
- personnel - a huge problem with English - it was really a big deal to communicate with most of them about anything!!
- the rooms are really NOT soundproofed - the walls are really thin and you can hear anything - your neigbours and the lift too
- the hotel, rooms and breakfast is much more like 3 star hotel, except of 4 star - terrible knowledge of languages (staff), breakfast OK (but not so big choice of meals for 4star hotel - especially ham and cheese were poor offer)
- rooms - not small, but furniture is so badly located that there is little of place; no toiletries (even the 3star hotels offer something but there was nothing!!), terrible towels, and maybe the worst is the glass bathroom - you can hear anything from bathroom which is not cool

And last but not least thing - we had bottle of sparkling wine on our voucher and even we gave the receptionist our voucher, she just gave us some other voucher for 2 welcome drinks (just soft drinks). On our room was also a sparkling wine (just about 300ml). The second day, suddenly the only small bar in the hotel was closed (under construction - but nobody tell us anything about it!!), so we asked a receptionist (other than first day) how we can have a welcome drink. She told us, we can take 2 drinks from minibar. The last day, when we were leaving, some other man told us that our welcome drink was a wine, and so we have to pay the drinks from minibar. We did not ask for any welcome drink or anything like that but if they give it to us, we drank it. And after that, when they find out it is their fault, they want money for us?!!! just a little bit of money for drinks from minibar?!!! Is for them really worth it?!! I do not like the communication and the attitude of staff - just like it is our fault, but we do not say sorry and furthermore, you, as a guest, have to pay it..

I could not reccomend this hotel, I think, you can live closer to the centre and for similar money.
