“A lovely restaurant off the beaten track”
Reviewed May 20, 2012

The menu is on a stand at the building entrance - you go under the porch and come out into the courtyard. You have to be curious to find it !! We had lovely hot weather so tables only outside in a calm peaceful surrounding with a piano player. We had a really good meal and drank some very good Talsker wine. Very professional service and as we chatted to the staff a lot we got free digestives !! This place was so good and great value for money if you compared it to the typical tourist trap restaurants that we went back for a second meal during our long week-end. Thanks to the staff who made our stay very enjoyable - we were staying at the Budapest Museum Central hotel which was also just next to the Mercure hotel at Kalvin Ter metro.

“Don't bother”
Reviewed January 5, 2011

We should have left when we walked in. There was not one other patron in the restaurant, but we assumed this was because it was off the tourist trail as it was recommended in the lonely planet guide. Service was fine. However, the pasta we ordered was grossly overcooked and the turkey dish was much too rich and accompanied by potato hash browns that appeared to be from the frozen section of the supermarket. Stay on the tourist trail and visit pesti lampas instead for similarly priced food of much better quality. Possibly a place to visit in the summer when it is warm enough to sit on the terrace.

“Excellent service, delicious food”
Reviewed August 20, 2010

Perhaps it was because it was an exceptionally quiet Monday night (due to an earlier rain storm) and the fact this restaurant is tucked away in a courtyard not right on the main tourist streets - but service here was friendly and attentive. We didn't pour our own wine once, and the waiter was pleasant - offering desert / coffee without being pushy and leaving just the right amount of time.

We had main and desert. I had veal goulash served in a crepe topped with cheese and sour cream, which was very good, my partner had a sort of turkey, broccoli, bacon and cheese bake. We both had chocolate souffle with Bailey's sauce for desert. Including wine the bill came to about £35: amazing given the quality.
