This is an old rehabilitated hotel with spa and restaurant. The hotel rooms are ok, breakfast it's fair but not for 15€. I'd not advise anyone to go to lunch at this hotel, the price is 20€/ pers and the food isn't fresh( at least when we went there). The spa is nice with sauna and the fitness gym really good. All in all i want to say that this is a nice hotel but a little bit to expensive for what is offering!

The hotel is lovely and clean and the staff were polite, courteous and willing to assist you no matter what the problem maybe. This was our second year in budapest and we are definitely returning next year. I have recommended this location to friends of ours already. The food was good, attractions good (especially the thermal spa), and all this and the Danube as well.

Room Tip: When booking your room ask for one that has a view over the Danube - then you can watch the boats fr...

The Grand is a lovely hotel where the staff are extremely helpful and speak very good English. The spa facilities are hard to find initially (you have to go to the basement floor then walk along a corridor underground to the attached Spa hotel), but definitely worth it. There is a small outdoor pool with a sun terrace (closes at 6pm) and inside there are a range of pools, steam rooms and jacuzzies.
The location out on Margit Island is lovely and in the middle of a really nice park. It's good for exploring the island, and there are small food outlets and lots of activities like bikes to hire. Getting into town on the number 26 bus is straightforward enough as well but we did feel a bit far out and popping to get food was a bit more of an effort than if we'd be in town centre.
The room was nice, with a hairdryer, safe, fridge and plenty of storage. The bathroom is pretty small and not exactly luxury but the shower is good and no problem with warm water or anything like that. We did notice that room service didn't seem to do much other than empty the bins and make the bed. Wi-Fi in rooms is pay-per-hour but it's free in the reception area.
The buffet breakfast is very expensive but they do offer a free coffee/croissant in the bar area just outside the restaurant up until about 10am.
We'd definitely recommend it for a very relaxing location, a bit out of town and quieter than being in the centre with access to a greater selection of restaurants and bars.

Room Tip: We requested a balcony and they made an effort to find us one which was nice. Our room (276) faced t...

The position of the hotel is ideal for relaxation. It is the middle of the Danube Margit Island. So no traffic, only parks and meadows. It has a big private and free parking place. The spa area is shared with it's neighbour hotel and it is accesible through an underground passage. There you can really relax, you have 5 pools with thermal water. The sauna is good. The cold water stone walk is very tonic and if you combine it with a hot bath after is amazing. All in one, it is the only hotel from the Danubius chain in Budapest where I would return. The breakfast is very good, the furniture is a bit old, but it has a specific charm.

Stayed here July 24th to 31st 2013. Amazing hotel full of character, great stylish rooms,we stopped B and B, buffet breakfast was free as in part of the deal along with free parking, back to breakfast, plenty of choices. Only had dinner once there, found it quite expensive, slightly poor on the quality and choice, glad I was not paying for an evening meal every night.
Reception staff on the whole were very helpfullmaybe a it surly.

Brilliant free spa in Danubius hotel next door very easy to get to by underground passage 2 or 3 mins walk

You can only enter the Island from the North end as the rest of the island is closed to bus`s and council vehicles

You als need a good map of Budapest as it is not easy driving about as there are very few or poorly signed roads.

And watch the drivers, some are quite frightening.

Room Tip: Book a river view room Air con is just about adaquate Free wi-fi only in reception area

We got married on the 4th of May and had the dinner and the party in the hotel.
We had 150 guests, 10 of us stayed at the hotel for a couple of days, too.
It was really the time of our life. We started to organize the event 6 months before the date, we met a fantastic lady, she was a conference sales manager, who was our contact and helped to manage everything. She was professional, very helpful, smart and I don't know a better expression, she just "got us". We didn't have to explain for hours again and again, what we had on mind about the wedding party. She totally understood us, and I'm not talking about speaking of the same language.
She was always there for us, responded asap, when we agreed on something, it just happened.
Anybody who organized a wedding yet, must know how difficult it can be. Ours was just smooth and quite relaxing. I loved it, and can't be thankful enough for making my life so easy that time.

The location is beautiful, the Széchenyi restaurant is just marvellous, elegant, decent with easy access to the terrace.

The dinner, wow :)). Before the wedding we had a tasting lunch, the head chef and the somelier took their time and joined us, we went through all the courses one-by-one, they understood and accepted any suggestions of us. I can't tell you how great relief it was, that everything went just easy and we just simply got what we were asking for. The menu was just perfect, most delicious and nicely presented. All of our guests couldn't tell anything but compliments.

The whole crew was amazing. The waitresses, waiters, the Manager on duty were "invisible", but always appeared when there was anything needed. They were elegant, very thoughtful, professional, created a very enjoyable atmosphere.

One more important thing, when it came to financials there was total agreement. We agreed something at the beginning and we paid the amount as agreed. There were no hidden paragraphs, small type attachments, nothing. It was absolutely a fair and clean pay-off. (I heard from my friends a lot of horrible stories about events when the bill went way too high at the end compared to the starting conditions..)

All-in-all we are very happy to have chosen the Grand Hotel for our "Big day".

The rooms: according to all our friends (from many different countries all over the world) were very happy with the rooms, the service and with the whole atmosphere of the hotel. Please bear in mind, The Grand Hotel is the oldest still functioning hotel in Budapest. Don't expect high end, designer pieces furniture and equipments in the rooms. This hotel is a beautiful example of how you can travel back in time but still enjoy the 21st century's comfort.

I do recommend this place for family holiday, for events or for travellers who appreciate elegance and staying in the very heart of beautiful Budapest without the noise big city life.

Enjoy your stay there :).
