It is always a relief to turn up to a place and find it does look just like the photos on the website. We stayed at the Adler for three nights with two small children and it suited us well. Kitchen is well equipped (four of everything, and with the often missing items of a strainer and bread knife that are often neglected), living room and bedroom (Ikea furniture) and a bathroom that has a washing machine, wonderful! There was also free Wi-fi, DVD player (unsurprisingly would only play European discs) and cable TV with lots of channels, all in Hungarian apart from CNN and late night movies on TCM.
The entrance street looked a bit dodgy the day we arrived as there were piles of rubbish, however they had gone the next day. It wasn't scary however, and wasn't traumatic to drive to (coming from the south). It's about 3 mins walk (at 4 year old walking pace) to the Synagogue, and a couple of minutes further to Erszebet Square, so a really useful location.
The one downside is that somewhere along the washing line somebody smokes. This won't be a problem if you smoke yourself or have become immune to Eastern European smokiness, but I found it annoying. I had to hang the towels out of the window to air before use, and I would recommend bringing your own bedding (or possibly porta-cot) if you are travelling with an infant as the cot bedding was particularly bad. The rooms themselves were clean, and didn't smell thank goodness.
Overall however, it was really nice, useful and really well priced. We're planning on staying there next time we're in Budapest, we'll just take our own porta-cot this time!
