I came with 3 friends to celebrate a 60th birthday. The hotel was very easy to find and within walking distance of everything we wanted. The rooms were a little small, though smart, with not much space in the bathroom to put your toiletries - especially as we were ladies sharing. However, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff, from bringing a tea tray to our room, to sending goose feather pillows for us to enjoy. Breakfast was delicious, but we learned to steer clear of Hungarian sausages which were either too spicy or too salty, and the bacon, which was a little on the frazzled side. The bar staff were friendly and made delicious cocktails for us. The swimming pool etc were great fun, the outside one having lovely views of Budapest Turning left out of the doors, it was just a 5 minute walk to the beautiful New York Cafe, which also was a stop for the Hop-on Hop-off coaches, the tickets for which we bought from the hotel.

Nice hotel overall with regard to facilities, food, location etc. but rooms are tiny! Mix up with an airport taxi booking put a dampener on my stay, the hotel solved the situation eventually (sort of anyway!!) but certainly didn't make it easy for me!

Room Tip: Standard rooms are tiny...upgrade to a bigger room!

Dear AllRoundGreatGUy,

Thank you for your feedback, altghough it contains some criticism as well. Regarding your taxi issue I have made a quick investigation, and as far as I know, we have sent you a hotel taxi as per your order. Somehow however you took a different car, I’m very sorry for the confusion.

Familiar with Monte Carlo Hotels.
I was totally charmed when arriving at Zara Hotel.
The location was convenient
The rooms and restaurant where lovely.
As for the service team, and especially Adam, we were constantly offered a world top class Hotel service surrounding us with discret people always anticipating every single need.

Rooms were adequate size, modern and clean. Staff very helpful and professional. Breakfasts were ok and lunches were good. It's about 10-15 minutes walk from the tourist centre of Budapest but is near a very good nightlife scene, including a ruin bar 5 mins away which is worth a visit whatever your age - but be careful not to trip over anything.

This is nice hotel located in a central enough area. The Metro is very close and you can access some of the interesting areas on foot, although to go to the real center you should take the underground or a taxi. Staff is friendly and the facility is clean. Breakfast is good. There are lots of hotels in Budapest and this one is a good choice if you get a good deal.

We stayed here a few weeks ago for 3 nights. The hotel is in a great location only 15 mins walk from the Danube. It's in a really great area for pubs and restaurants with a hidden away courtyard full of these only 5 mins walk away. The hotel was clean and the staff pleasant. The breakfast was top notch - as some other posters have said it is busy but that is due to the size of the restaurant and we only had to wait a few minutes for a table. The rooms were of good quality.

Other posters have commented on the rooms being hot. We found this too, but if you leave the window open / curtains shut during the day and the A/C turned on in the evening then the rooms gets to a lower temperature - easy to solve.

The only downside is that as it is in a busy area the street facing rooms can be noisy at the weekend. This isn't a criticism of the hotel itself, merely its location. We were in one of these on the first night but requested a move and the front desk staff were very accommodating (man with his arm in a cast but can't remember his name). Otherwise bring some earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Can also recommend the very reasonable lunch in the Araz restaurant which was great for us after a long journey.

Room Tip: Ask for a non-street facing room

Dear ETow99,

Firstly thank you for your high scores! It was good to read, that although you have a little criticism about the street noise, you have mostly enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for your smart advice for others, how to keep cold guest rooms during the day. We look forward welcoming you again at our hotel. I promise, we give you a quite room at your next visit.
