Very conveniently placed to walk to many places of interest, restaurants and shops.
Lovely room and the only " complaint" I would have is there were no tea and coffee facilities in the room - this would have just completed the stay.
Breakfast very good on quality, quantity and variety. All staff extremely pleasant and helpful.
Roof top pools looked great but was not able to use.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review full with compliments, but on the end 4 scores only. Fyi, we provide tea and coffee making facilities in the standard rooms on request basis, we inform our guests about this service in our Guest Service Directory.
I hope you will have the chance to use our roof top swimming pool sometime in the future.

Best regards,

We stayed in this hotel for a week. It is situated in an excellent location, within walking distance of most of the key sights of Budapest. We did not pay for breakfast, but there were plenty of places nearby - the "Flying Puli" being particulary good (turn left and left again from the hotel entrance).
The hotel is in the old Jewish quarter, which really comes alive at night. Many of the famous "ruin bars" are nearby and definitely worth a visit. Although the area is quite lively at night, there was no noise from outside to disturb our sleep. We ate in the hotel restaurant once. The meal was ok (I wasn't that keen on the salmon) and guests seem to given a discount on the wine if they add the cost to their hotel room bill. All the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was nicely decorated and functional, with air conditioning (essential in summer!). The small but attractive pool on the roof is a real bonus after a hot day sight-seeing in this fascinating city. Just before I left for Budapest I read a few reviews of the Zara Continental that criticized the size of the standard rooms, but ours was perfectly fine. I agree with other reviewers that they should provide tea/ coffee making facilities in the standard rooms and our fridge was not great at keeping drinks cool. However these are small quibbles and should not put you off staying at this lovely hotel in a great city. (P.S. The Lonely Planet guidebook was very good for helping us decide which restaurant to eat in the nearby area!)

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I was especially delighted to read how much you liked the location of the hotel and despite live night life you did not exoerience any noise from the street.
Most of guests read reviews before selecting a hotel. This is the reason why I repeat again, that tea and coffee making facilities are not basic amenities of the stadard rooms but we are pleased to deliver them on request basis. Good to read that you were satisfied with the size of the standard room.

Many thanks and best regards,

Back to Continental Zara Hotel for a couple of days of business meetings this Year and again very happy with the hotel. Decent rooms, good A/C in 35C heat wave, nice breakfast that improved, great meeting rooms and I personally loved the SPA. After long day of meetings went for a swim and watched sunset as they have a large grass roof area up there. Also the gym is well done for a quick work out for a business traveler. Well done again!

We were two couples who stayed at the Zara for four nights. We visited Budapest for a day at the Sziget music festival and sightseeing.

We were travelling on a budget, and so booked Standard rooms, without breakfast. The rooms were really nice, with A/C which was essential, and spotlessly clean. The hotel bar was very friendly and welcoming after a hard days walking. Prices were less than you would expect from a city centre hotel, and the staff were excellent.

The hotel is five minutes walk from the nearest Metro, which makes it ideal for travelling further afield around the city. It is very close to the hop on city bus tour routes. A fifteen minute walk West will take you to a square around the Deak Ferenk metro (two stops away) where there are a selection of restaurants and cafes to suit all price groups. Five minutes further brings you to the banks of the Danube.

A fifteen minute walk North takes you to the theatre district (Opera Metro stop), where there are more restaurants and bars. Whilst the hotel is situated off the main street, surrounded by residential apartment blocks and small businesses, there are a number of smaller cafes and bars nearby, some of them "Ruins" bars. These bars are converted buildings turned into bars and nightclubs (at low cost!). These bars serve the local Hostel community well into the night. But there is little or no noise or trouble.

We found the local area, the music festival, and Budapest in general to be very friendly and welcoming to foreign travellers. At no time during the day, or late into the night did we feel threatened or intimidated whilst walking around this beautiful city.

We heartily recommend this hotel, and Budapest too!

Room Tip: With a Standard room, the rooftop pool entry is chargeable. I believe Executive rooms include this...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your detailed description of your experiences. I was happy to read how much you enjoyed the Sziget Festival, Budapest and last but not least our Hotel. Fyi, the entry fee to the wellness is due to the low wholesaler room rate and not beacuse of the standard room.

It was also good to read that you found the vicinity of the hotel with the ruin pubs and cafes quite reasonable priced and safe.

Thanks for your great scores and best regards,
