Great hotel mainly thanks to extremely helpful staff. From the minute you enter the hotel you met by smiling, helpful staff (door men, reception, concierge, house keeping, fitness area/pools, beauty centre, waiters).

Nicely decorated rooms, fabulous roof pool. Fitness centre open 24/7 with your key card.

I was on a wellness break package - and massage, treatment and the dinner included in the package were all very good.

Hotel located in nice area with good restaurants and bars (including famous ruin pubs) in easy walking distance.
Close to public transport but city centre, Danube, opera and shopping all in walking distance.

If I have to find something negative: Would have been nice with a swim before breakfast. Accss to pools only from 9 a.m. .... but it will not keep me away next time I visit Budapest .....

Dear Max0031,
it a pity that you did not like the location enough, but why yiu were not satisfied with the value, the room and the cleaniness? On the other side I was happy to read that you liked the service, which is a good sign for me.
Thanks for your review and best regards,

Concierge service is outstanding, Emails returned very fast, and desk service top notch. I really tested their endurance with my enthusiasm and time constraints to do as much as possible in the 6 days there. Lovely buffet breakfast. Very attractive bar upstairs, which we almost missed. Wellness center 7th floor was great respite to rejuvinate. Just wish they would let you have a beer up there!! Door service men, friendly and so helpful. Location is 1 block away from Metro and tram stops, and short walk to New York cafe. Synagogue is 5-7 minute walk. Good clubs nearby and good restaurants. I give this 4.5 stars as I am a spoiled American who always wants a bigger room and shower!! Would stay again, no hesitation-I would just upgrade to a bigger room. BTW room was very quiet.

"The Continental Hotel Zara is a four star and as they say "Superior" Hotel. It looks and is a Beautiful Building and a Fantastc job has been done it is conversion to a great hotel for Pictures.
We were booked into this hotel as apart of a tour and emailed the hotel to confirm they would,as we had confirmed by our tour operator six months prior , a family room . We were impressed to get an email from Katlin saying a Deluxe Double Room with extra Bed our 12 year old would be allocated to us. We got Room 138 which might well be a Deluxe room as a Double but was never designed to have an extra bed of any size inserted. It certainly should never be considered a Family Room It was overfilled and uncomfortable for a three night stay with three people. Not a Family Room or a Triple as andone should expect from a Hotel and most of it's staff believe is and they are Superior".
With the bed inserted there was no chance of walking round the room unless occupied by only one person and no luggage. We only did have two suitcases which had to occupy the window seat area making it unusable.Would be satisfactory room as a Double..
On asking was there any chance of a bigger room where we could actually have more than 10 inch gap on one side and less than that on the other - we were assured that it was a superior room in a four star superior hotel and it was a room size that rated as Superior and No -that was it!
OK so as a Hotel it is actually Superior but then should it not have three hooks for the supplied bathrobes that helps the Room be rated as Deluxe l? Should it not have 3 sachets of each tea as it remembers to have for the coffee drinkers - for all the supplied in room coffees. As a Hotel you are supplying the room as a" family room so would the provision of three milks be too much . One Sachet of Green, One Earl Grey and One Fruit of the Forest is little help to English Breakfast Tea Drinkers late at night. Yes, no doubt we could phone and wait but in such a "Superior" Hotel it should Never be necessary . There should be no excuses and no apologies it does not happen in a Hotel believes itself to be that Superior. Getting the Right Tea in the right place with milk would have been something to compensate for the bruises off the bed corners we all hit.
Got your cereal at Breakfast, yes now go find the spoons they are over the other side of the restaurant.
It is such a pity that a Hotel that showed such promise just gave the very real impression to us and many of our group as so interested in being "and acting Superior they forget the ordinary traveller especially if they are with a tour Group. Business People where Look is everything delighted with its looks.
In the longer term if returning as Family s they will be based on our esperience be disappointed as we were. Looks are not everything consideration and care are vital but in our opinion very lacking despite first appearances
Our Bathroom is of star quality design but the lighting is such that without excellent vision impossible to shave or put on make up in their mirror. Inserting contact lenes has to be done elsewhere and this involved leaning over a bed to get the light.
From the stylish basin to the nearest towel behind you is a good meter, drip on the floor even washing your hands.
The general impression within our group is the Hotel was designed by excellent designers who had little experience in what is actually required by real people rather than fellow superiors.
Budapest is a Beautiful City and the Continental Zara also makes great pictures but not Room 138 when filled with three beds! There is no way a cat could get a decent swing and thats no jazz

Dear TwoBigOne,
I was very sorry to read that the only thing you were satisfied with was the design and the restoration of the hotel, athough its functionality was questioned too. I agree that the room 138 is not a family room, we do not even use this expression. As it was confirmed it is a double room with an extra bed. Unlike resort hotels city center hotels usually do not offer spacios family rooms. The solution is either a suite or connecting rooms. Several guests from the same tours occupying similar rooms for three people were all very satisfied with the room, this is why I was sad reading your review. I sincerely hope despite the size of the room you had time to enjoy our services at your satisfaction.
Best regards,

We stayer for 6 nights in the hotel and we choose it for the level of the hotel, the spa and the swimming pool on the roof.
We booked an executive room but we had a free upgrade to the presidential suite! A very good surprise, also because we were in Budapest for the birthday of my husband and for our wedding anniversary.

ROOM:
The room was amazing and very big. The bathroom was large and with a steam  shower and a very big bathtube!
Unfortunately the function 'steam' of the shower didn't work and even if we asked to desk to fix it, they have not solved the problem in 6 days. however the room has everything you can need and more.
excellent cleaning service even if sometimes we have found the tea cups dirty of the day before.

BREAKFAST
the breakfast was possible from 7 to 10.30. Very big choice of salty and sweet food. You find everything you need or want.
The drinks are made with an automatic machine: an hotel like this should offer a different service. The cappuccino was decent but not a real cappuccino. The same for the coffee. I think they can improve this.
If there are a lot people (from 9 to 10 am), it's very difficult to serve yourself and to find a clean table. We had to ask to hotel staff in order to have a clean table (there were some free tables but they were dirty and the staff didn't clean them if you don't ask them).

MASSAGES
We tried one massage. It was very good, in a very good ambient and an excellent price. We liked it.

SWIMMING POOL AND SAUNAS
the area on the roof is very good and a perfect refuge after a day walking in the city. The pools are not very big but they do their work.
One pool outside, one inside and one jacuzzi with 4 places. The jacuzzi was always very busy and we were not able to try it.
The finnish sauna didn't work, they told us that they want to fix it in one day maximum, but in the end it didn't work for all the days of our stay, so we haven't tried it. The infra sauna is for 2 people maximum. Not bad but nothing more than a normal sauna.
In the end, the wellness area is good but we expected something more.

LOCATION
the location is good. We knew since the beginning that it was not in the city center but you can reach the center in 10 minutes walking. For us the location was good in order to visit the city. The underground station is really near to the hotel, so if you don't like walking, you have this alternative.

STAFF
Very friendly, helpful and nice. They speak a very good English and they will help you during your stay.

In the end, I suggest the hotel. You'll be happy of your choice!

Dear Glogae,
I hope you spent pleasant days with us in our Zara suite and could enjoy all the facilities and services despite some lacks and faults. I know it is difficult match the Italian requirements in terms of coffee especially at breakfast. Although we constantly improve the quality of the breakfast coffee (currently Jacobs Krönung), Molinari coffee we serve a la carte only. I am sure you will understand the reason of it.
Anyway, thnak you for your review and look forward to welcoming you in Budapest!
