Just returned from a 4 day vist to Budapest and came across this bar on our 2nd day. Initially went in for a drink but ended up staying to eat and glad we did. Ended up going to eat there again before we left. Staff were very friendly, Hungarian beer at approx £2 a pint and very nice food. I had the ribs on both visits, well worth a try. All food was reasonably priced. If we go back we will be going back for sure.

Most evenings pretty full - the locals know good value. The food is good (hungarian)pub fare and together with reasonably priced drink is well worth a visit if you are staying in the neighbourhood. Doubtful whether I would take a metro trip to get there.

I had lunch with a friend here recently and I was very surprised at what a great place this really is. Firstly, the food was perfectly cooked, and I am quiet picky, I had their lunch special which was chicken and vegetable skewers with rice. The vegetables where perfectly grilled, juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, the rice was also very tasty and fluffy. I have been thinking of that meal ever since!
Secondly, the place is very cosy, the colors and furniture makes it homey but still a little chic.
And thirdly the staff were very welcoming, polite and efficient.
A perfect place overall, and my lunch special was only 1100HUF!

Stumbled across this place by mistake and we made an even bigger mistake going in,
from the moment we entered we where givin dirty looks by the staff,
There english wasnt up to scratch and we where presented with the wrong bill when leaving,
Food was great doh chef knows what he is doing i had the beef and guinness pie my partner had the fish and chips.
Pity about the service and the time period in which you have to wait for staff that clearly dont like there jobs,

wont be back really sad cause the food was great,
p.s some irish music would be great instead of 80s disco

This was a nice pub with quite cheap beer and food. But sadly the food was quite tasteless. The atomsphere was good, with nice music in a speakable level. Very central and with nice staff and good beer, around 700 HUF / beer. Sure hope they will come up with more tasteful food next time. But worth coming back to. =) Just to look at all the pitcures of irish pubs at the wall.

Thank L R

Hi LR thank you for your review and your comments. We are glad your enjoyed your visit to Jack Doyle's and that most of your comments were favourable about our staff, atmosphere etc, however we are quite surprised to hear you describe our food as "tasteless".
We pride ourselves at Jack Doyle's in respects of our great tasting food and varied menu, all of our reviews share this view and our burgers & fish n chips in particular are legendary among our regular clientele in Budapest. We would be interested to know what you ordered?
We are glad to hear though you would have no problem visiting us again and would invite you to do soon so you can experience the best our kitchen has to offer..
