“Oh my Lord, that was delicious.”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

We randomly decided to go to Borbirosag on one of our weekends in lovely Budapest. boy, was that a good decision! The staff was extremely helpful [even though me and my friend are no wine experts, they didn't make fun of our questionable wine decisions], and when the food arrived... Oh.

Their goulash soup was definitely one of the top three we've ever had in Hungary [and I've tried it in over 20 places]; their lamb ribs were perfectly made - juicy, tender, pink and simply as ribs should be. Coupled with a relatively inexpensive bottle of Merlot, the entire [rather inexpensive] experience made us full, blissful and happy we've decided to try this place.

A definite must-eat, if you're in for modern Hungarian food and good wine. It will not destroy your finances, and you will talk about the meal for days to come.

“Fantastic Hungarian food with a modern twist”
Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

Firstly well worth booking. People were turned away when we were there on a Friday evening. Food was amazing and couldn't be faulted particularly the pork tenderloin with Hungarian potatoes, the duck breast and the homemade chocolate tart. Service was friendly if a little inattentive. Highly recommend.

“Great restaurant, great staff, excellent food”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Recomennded by one of my friend. Seems to be a quiet restaurant from outside, but was fully booked. The staff was qualified and really nice. Good wine recommendation, nice starters, delicious main course, the dessert was ok. If you go there, ask the waiter about the " mely viz",its a really nice shot to start!:)

“Very Good”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

Recommended by our hotel (the excellent Brody House), we thoroughly enjoyed our meal but had reservations about the restaurant

I had the veal, others had steak, and goose liver. My veal was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Desert was a little disappointing (something with chocolate). Wine choice of a mid-price Hungarian red was very good. However, some of our group were indecisive in the choices and the waitress was less than patient, almost surly

I felt the prices were a little steep and that the staff were just waiting for us to leave ( we were the last diners to leave at 11p.m) If your only interest is the food then recommended

“Top quality Hungarian food”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

This was the best meal we had in Budapest and fully lived up to the high tripadvisor rating. The restaurant itself is in a quiet area behind the Market Hall and has a nice atmosphere, comfortable seating and well spread out tables. We ate inside but in the Summer there is a nice outside area. Service was good and helpful - the wine recommendation was excellent and not in the top price bracket. We ate the smoked mackerel starter which was delicious served with a tapenade and some lovely bread. For the main course we had the duck burger and the duck breast which were both delicious and we finished with very nice coffee and fruit brandies from the well stocked drinks list. Total price was £50 approx which we felt was good value for the quality. We had tried to go on Monday night but was fully booked so really best to make a reservation.
