“Really informative and friendly guides”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

We liked our first walking tour so much we did the second one, as did half of our group!

Great way to learn about the history of Budapest. I'd recommend this be one of the first things you do as it helps put the city into perspective.

“A Must do when in Budapest”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

The Free Budapest Walking Tour is a must-do when in Budapest, (there are actually four tours; the general tour, which you should do first, the communism tour, the Jewish tour and the Pub Crawl, which is not yet advertised). The general tour starts at 2:30 pm, the communism and Jewish tours start at 3:30pm, while the pub crawl starts at 8 pm. Since the tours are several hours long, plan on spending three afternoons and at least one evening with this great bunch of guys. They are friendly and can really tie the history of the city and country together. When you are done with the tour, you feel less like a tourist and more like a local. There is no fee for the tour and they survive on the tips that they receive.

Dear Iowaaggie,

It’s great to hear that you took all four tours we currently offer (with the pub tour advertised only for existing customers). Thank you for your kind recommendation, and we wish to see you again in Budapest.

“Really enjoyable free walking tour - Thanks Anita”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

Definitely a highly recommended walking tour! We went on a Friday afternoon and there were only 4 people in the tour (a bit unfortunate for Anita but we loved it). The tour guides (if Anita is to go by) have an extensive knowledge of the city and can even recommend the best places to eat, see, party, etc. Loved talking to her regarding Hungarian sport, history, dogs, food and anything really. Make sure that if you want to learn about Budapest and Hungary's history you don't miss this during your stay.

Dear MWhee63,

Thanks for your brief but great review. We wish you happy travels, in the name of all Free Walking Tours guides in Budapest. Bear it in mind that all FREE WALKS start from Vörösmarty Square, from the fountain with four lions.

“Free Jewish, Communist and City Walking Tour”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

If you like history and want to know about Budapest past and present, so I'd highly recommend to take part in these 3 walking tours as I did in January 2014. People who organized these tours are skilled in English, French and Spanish. Each tour takes about 2,5 hours but you will not get bored because they are funny, competent and they take your questions seriously. The tours are free but they deserve much more than 10 euros that we gave to them. I recommend all 3 walking tours to everybody as I had a good time. At the end, the girl (city walking tour) who speaks Spanish very well gives you some insights where to buy, to see, places to visit and shopping in Budapest, a wonderful city to visit. Perfect, I give you to all guides 5 stars.

“Jewish tour amazing - Thanks Anna”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

Definitely go on one of their tours. if Anna is anything to go by the guides have a host of knowledge and will give you insights to the city, culture and history that you wouldn't get from the guide books. The jewish tour is not very long in distance but Anna packed so much information into it.
