I stayed in this hotel on business in October. I had a double room which was ok for one person but would have been cramped for two. The location of the hotel is excellent, close to most of the main sights and near restaurants and bars. The gym is well equipped and the pool although small, has a resistance spray to make it a bit more difficult. The sauna is small but passable, with a good plunge pool. The service at the hotel is excellent. I checked out early and they arranged a take away breakfast without me requesting one. However, the regular breakfast was a poor standard. Not much choice and the scrambled eggs were dry and didn't appear fresh. The hotel is meant to be 5 star but I would think it is more like a good 4 star.

The hotel has one very precious point: location, location, location!
The best part of the hotel is it's location. Breakfast is nothing special. They could have fresh fruits instead of canned ones. And maybe fresh juice instead of a machine.
And breakfast is served underground with news running on the tv's ( probably for the bussinessmen).
Rooms are small but clean. I was on the third floor, when other people talk in the corridor, you can hear it in the room.
We sended some shirts to the laundry and they needed more time than previewed to return them as we wished.

Central location , downtown (missing only the river view....)pay for the new refurbished rooms, they are chic design, clean and roomy enough for a couple in week-end or a businessman alone.
Hope you will have the chance to be checked in by the same receptionist I was checked-in....he even was so honest to advise in advance not to exchange money in the hotel (quote: "we don't have the most favorable rate in our hotel---actually the rate would have been a rip-off)

Breakfast OK , parking very convenient either in front or 50 m in a public guarded parking area.

Room Tip: Always ask for the new refurbished rooms . Check hotel rate with online systems , that's how I p...

The Hotel has been really unreliable. I made my booking one month before going and once there I have been told that the Hotel was on overbooking and I have been moved towards the residential area in Buda instead of Pest which was my choise. I couldn't live the atmosphere of Pest because I was too far from where I'd like to be. My choise was determinated also because of the SPA into the Hotel President, when they changed my booking I have been moved to an Hotel without SPA and even if it should be the same class it was really unconfortable.

Hotel President is a block from the American Embassy, which may explain the helipad on the rooftop restauran, as well as the bulletproof glass displayed in the lobby. Great service and beautiful rooms are just part of the charm here; the elegant neighborhood is close to Pariament, the Danube, Sas Utca and the Central European University, as well as the Basilica of St. Stephen. You can't find a better neighborhood in Pest and you won't find a better hotel in the neighborhood!

I recently visited Budapest and stayed three nights at the President Hotel. We loved it. Located next to the American Embassy in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood, it is within easy walking distance to many sites: including the Danube, Parliament and shopping on the Andrassy Utca where you can walk down to Hero's Square and hit a museum or two along the way. If not ambitious enough for the walk back, the cab is very cheap - and there are plenty of great restaurants within very close proximity - we rarely cabbed it. Our room was large, facing the street with french doors that opened to a balcony, had a very comfy king-sized bed with soft cotton sheets and comforter. The bath had a large soaking tub and shower combo and plenty of thick towels. The room was spotlessly cleaned each day. Included in our room price was a breakfast buffet that featured the typical European meats, cheeses, rolls, yogurt and cereals but also had eggs, bacon and lots of hot coffee - if you can't find something you like, it's not the fault of the restaurant ! Service all around was great. There is a restaurant on the roof top where we had drinks the first night, although didn't have the chance to dine. The lobby has several computers to check your email, although the Hungarian keyboard takes some getting used to:) There is a pool/spa on the lower level that one can use at an additional cost - it looks lovely, but with short time, we took to the thermal baths instead. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend The President Hotel!
