“Worth seeking out; a great find”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

This restaurant is seemingly tucked away down a sidestreet but is well worth seeking out and not far from Kalvin tér tram stop.

The restaurant is charming with a lovely, quaint atmosphere and nicely spaced tables. The waiters were very friendly and knowledgeable about their food and especially their wines so do ask them to recommend a wine to go with your choice of meal.

The food was Hungarian with a slightly more cosmopolitan twist. We had the pork cheeks and the lamb which were beautifully cooked and presented.

Absolute gem so please do take the time to visit.

“A perfect way to crown your day”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

The Borsso Bistro is one of those restaurants that has a charming ambience to it.
It offers great food, the menu is often refreshed to always provide food with the freshest ingridients. There is live music, polite wiaters and stunning food and wines. Having had the chance to enjoy dinner here a couple of times it is one of my favorite restaurants. Try to make a reservation if possible as it can get busy.
Highly recommended!

“LOVELY RESTAURANT GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

We looked on Tripadvisor and found this to be quite high on the list of good restaurants. We were lucky in that there were only two tables left as we hadn't booked in advance.
There's lovely live music (usually good quality restaurants will have live music) and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very friendly, couldn't do enough for us, was very helpful in explaining the different dishes.
I would definitely recommend the leg of lamb with the gorgeous remoulade and potato fondant (which is quite popular over there apparently!) Service charge is 12% which is higher than the normal 10% for most other eateries but well worth it.

“Unexpectedly fine food and great service”
Reviewed April 14, 2014

Tucked away on a seemingly residential street, this restaurant was a pleasant surprise and provided the best of many good meals in Budapest. The waiters were friendly and efficient, bringing a chair for my camera without being asked to do so. The menu is French/Hungarian, making use of fresh, mostly seasonal ingredients such as wild garlic and asparagus (in springtime). It was difficult to select from the tempting menu, but I chose the homemade pasta with slow cooked lamb, asparagus, and horn of plenty mushrooms, light and flavourful. The somewhat tough lamb was my least favourite part of the dish and it could have been omitted without negatively affecting the meal. I had the cheese course, a rather small slice of French blue, served with a scattering of hazelnuts, a fig slice, a curious cube which turned out to be a carved strawberry, and sweet Tokaji wine. Afterwards, I couldn't resist the lemon and passion fruit posset-like dessert, topped with a cube of toasted meringue and a thin ginger wafer. The 2011 Bock wine we were served was so delicious that I bought some at duty-free on my way home to remind me of my excellent dining experience at Borssó Bistro. The food and service were both worthy of a more expensive restaurant, but the pleasant, unpretentious atmosphere made it a perfect evening out.

“Fresh, beautifully cooked food served by polite efficient staff while listening to lovely unobtrusive live duo”

Lovely menu, a long way away from the usual greasey Hungarian dishes. Pleasant bistro setting, good wine list ambient atmosphere. Fab place to go after a day's sightseeing.
