We went here on our last night in Budapest, I chose a steak and was very happy with it. The location is great as well being situated next to the river.

Price level are what you can expect being in a hotel restaurant in the tourist area.

In a fantastic position, this restaurant over looks the Danube and is a great place to spend a summer evening. On our last trip to Budapest we ate there several times for this reason. However, the food was expensive and very average in quality. The service was generally good, however on our most recent visit we were disappointed to be greeted quite rudely by the host, who told us off for choosing our own table. This was really disappointing and spoilt the whole meal.

For river watching and people watching, my wife and I decided on lunch at the Corso located in the Intercontinental hotel in Budapest. We were having a mid afternoon lunch and the restaurant was very quiet. They do offer a lunch buffet, but we opted to order from the menu. The staff were all superior. The service was excellent. The food was exquisite and the people watching was exceptional. We even saw Mr. Bumble Bee parade by the window. My wife had a very tasty strudel with porcini mushroom, carrot, zucchini with caramelized onion confit over grilled asparagus. I had a chicken consume, a Caesar salad with giant prawns, and a nice Sauvignon Blanc. The food was excellent, the view was amazing and the afternoon was too soon over.

This restaurant is on the ground floor of the InterContinental Hotel on the shore of the Danube.
Even at night, one can appreciate the wonderful position with the Castle lit up. We were staying at the hotel and it was the same view for breakfast every day too - marvellous.
The breakfast was wonderful with many many choices, each of them perfect however it was at night that the restaurant came into it's own.
There weren't many people when we went (maybe as we were dining earlier than most) but the service was superlative.
The food matched the service and is one of the nicest meals I have had while travelling (well the nicest) from the complimentary (for hotel patrons) choice of fresh made bread and dip to the superb dessert plate.
The waiter was attentive and friendly without being intrusive - perfect.
The price was at least a third what it would be in Australia for a meal of the same calibre even with the generous tip I left.
Pity it was our last night there or I would have been more than happy to repeat it.

Sunday brunch is simply amazing in Corso! The sushi station (made by chefs of Wasabi restaurant chain) is worth the admission alone. The fresh selection of salads, soups, and entrees, pasta or wok station delight everyone, and the desserts are simply awesome. For the all-you-can-eat brunch you get champagne, coffee and icecream included for a mere 8000 HUF. Well worth the price especially if you are the member of the Privilege Club. Kids are more than welcome, and got their own corner to play.
