This review is based upon slightly different circumstances as it wasn't a come in and stay, it was a chosen as a venue to host a dance weekender which you attend and the entire event takes place within the hotel.
Now this weekender can take up to 300 people coming in at all the times of day and from all over the world, this places a huge demand on staff to up their service level due to the sheer amount of people....and this is where the pieces fell apart.
It's location is very strange, at the top of the hill, about an hour from the airport, so you're looking at 30 to 40 Euro ride in a taxi or a train, bus and 15 minute walk through a forest with no street lights (not a great start for late arrving travellers) - my journey to the hotel was a challenge but then again that's down to my poor planning.
There just seemed to be lack of planning and care and if first impressions count then this tarnished the hotel for the rest of the weekend, reception was pushed to the limit on day one with the kitchen racking up a huge waiting time for poor quality food aswell, this was all down to the amount of people, they recovered in the following days but the overall reputation had been set.
The rooms were very basic, it did have a fridge, a sizeable shower and the beds were sofa like but actually quite comfortable.
There is wireless in the main reception and lobby area which was fast but then suddenly disappeared on the night/early morning everyone needed it when we were nearly snowed in which meant taxis, buses were not running and information for onward travel was very limited, no staff could really help out or were around.
A real positive was the view from my room, which overlooked Budapest and when the weather was right it was breathtaking. If you're in Pest and desperately need a room for the night then use it, but for a stay, I'd look at hostels or hotel chains that are nearer the centre and cope with sudden influx of guests at once.
It's sad because with it's space, potential facilities, and some care and investment this could be a great place, in it's current condition I can only recommed this place as last minute booking if you really need somewhere to stay, but do look elsewhere first.
