“Wonderful little place!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

Really had a nice time at this place. The owner/waiter/chef was so much fun to talk to and his enthusiasm for his food and restaurant show in a wonderful dining experience. The food was reasonably priced and had great flavors. It is kind of a mix of Hungarian with international influences. The menu has so many choices it is hard to decide what to get but the owner will be happy to describe each item in detail. I would highly recommend this place. It may not be the very best meal you will ever have but the flavors are great, the people are great, and you will have a rally good time at Cafe Bouchon! One of our favorite meals in Budapest.

“Worth seeking out near the Opera House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

The neighborhood is very quiet and unassuming. When we arrived at 7PM we were the only table, but by 8PM there were at least six other couples. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Definitely seek out the starters, which tend to be seasonal and change frequently. My beef filet was slightly on the rare side, but the accompaniments helped tremendously. This menu choices are modest, which seems appropriate for a small establishment. We opted for the local beer, rather than wine (although selections looked tasty and well-priced.) It's always fun to go for crepes suzette prepared tableside: my date and I shared an order, which was just enough to cap off the meal.

“Good Service, Good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

You will not be disappointed. Friends from Budapest recommended this restaurant and it lived up to our San Francisco high standards. I especially recommend the black current chilled soup as a starter - very local summer dish and nothing like we get at home. In fact, that led me to try other fruit chilled soups in other restaurants and found them all delicious, especially when it's a hot summer evening.

“A Perfect Evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

Close to the opera house, best time seems 8pm so best to book. We went Wednesday night and it was very busy. Smaller servings are available of main courses which allowed me include a starter. Meal was delicios but it was our waiter (owner?) who made our evening. He helped us choose wine by the glass to suit each course with knowledge of the vineyard/wine type and threw in a friendly free digestiv..it tasted of half flower petals/ half honey...gorgeous! We'll be back! !
