i visited this hotel with friends for the European Cross Country Championships. For the price paid it proved a real gem.

It is located near to the centre of Pest - slightly north - and also close to the Danube with restaurants, bars, shops and metro plus railway station nearby. The hotel itself is quite small but has all you need for a weekend break. The rooms have a shower, ketttle (bring your own tea/coffee), TV (two English speaking channels) and free safe. My room was on the sixth floor and very quiet.

Breakfast has a good choice of cereals, fresh fruit, bread/rolls and some hot food too. There is wi-fi in the reception and small bar which was reasonably priced. They offer lunch in the resaurant but not evening meals.

Perhaps the biggest asset of the staff. Very friendly and helpful speaking excellent English. I had a few queries prior to travel and all were answered quickly and efficiently. They also arranged a transfer back to the airport for 6200 HUF which was very comfortable and stylish.

We ate in two nearby restaurants, Red Pepper and Jubillee, which were excellent and very good value. There are lots of other options not too far away covering all budgets.

All in all, a real gem. No doubt there are bigger, more glitzy hotels if you wish to pay more but in terms of value for money and comfort we all agreed this was an excellent choice.

Fantastic hotel, friendly helpful staff at all times. Requested extra pillows which arrived in no time(clearly stated in room info would be supplied on request). Superior room was amazing. Shower the best we've ever had in a hotel. Was strange not having tea/coffee provided but they didn't mind you taking your own and. Wine glasses were provided and when we broke the corkscrew (also provided) they were more than happy to open our wine. Cleanliness was first class throughout the hotel. Breakfast was varied something for everyone and plenty of choice served from 7am -10am and constantly refreshed. Very attentive restaurant staff but also unobtrusive. Location brilliant for trains, metro, trams and walking. Public transport cheap and efficient. We bought a 3day ticket to use on all transport enabled us to see a lot of this large beautiful city.

Stayed in the Marmara hotel for three nights. The hotel was fine for the money we paid, the room we were given was to small so we upgraded for a extra 10€ per night..The hotel is central to most attractions in Budapest, staff were friendly and breakfast was satisfactory. PS carpets need to be changed.

We stayed at this hotel in early December. The hotel is in a good location to enable you to explore the city, especially given the reasonable price to stay here. The hotel itself is lovely. Very nicely decorated and presented. There has been mention of the room sizes, and yes ours was on the small side but perfect for what we needed and it was warm and cosy. The rooms are well set out, with nice furnishings and the bathroom was lovely with hot water both at night and in the mornings. The bed was comfy and we did not experience any noise whatsoever. In fact we slept extremely well!! The breakfast was fresh, well presented and plentiful. Lots of choice. The staff were pleasant although they wouldn't book a taxi for us to get to the airport because they don't have a contract with the firm we wanted to book (fotaxi). The only criticism (and its minor) is that you have to buy tea and coffee for the room. There is a minimal cost for a small selection of tea bags, coffee and milk, but it would be nice to have this is the room from the outset. Overall the hotel was very pleasant and I would recommend this for couples or groups looking for a convenient hotel to explore the city, at a reasonable cost.
