We visited Fulemule after a -15 degree cruise on the Danube, and badly needed to be warmed up! The walk out of the city centre was definitely worth it - the food was delicious, and the prices were an absolute bargain.

Our only niggle was the fact that the restaurant was full of an American tour group for most of our dinner, which meant we were forced to listen to their tour guide instruct them (exhaustively) on their itinerary for a large part of our dinner, making conversation difficut. I'm not sure if this is a regular occurence, but once we were tucking into our dinner it didn't matter too much, as there was no talking going on anyway!

There are not a lot of restaurants like this left anywhere in the world. Personal attention by the people who own the place and run the place. Good ambiance, great Hungarian dishes, good quality seasonal ingredients with heart-and-soul. Quite possibly the best cholent ever. Arrive hungry, expect to need a long walk after.

but nothing special. I must admit that ingredients they use are really good quality, especially meat but from other reviews I expected more. For food for 3 people with 2 juices and 1 beer we paid around 11500 HUF - if you earn in euro or usd it's a great price, for people like me - price is also averege, you can find place with same quality but bigger ammount of food and smaller price. In general restarant has it's own climate, perfect place for a date, good quality food but really don't expect too much from other reviews cause you can get disappointed ;)
And one more thing - someone wrote that it's really hard to find - if you have ANY kind of map it's not a problem at all, especially that Budapest's subway can take you to most of the places recommended on trip advisor.

We enjoyed our lunch at Fulemule very much. We found things on the menu there that we didn't see anywhere else in Budapest. From the fact that even for a weekday lunch, there were a good number of patrons, I would suggest making a reservation if you go there for dinner.

A remarkable value - we both had appetizers and entrees and the bill came to less than we had paid for a drink and an appetizer on Castle Hill.

Some folks had mentioned it was not easy to find the restaurant, but we had a pretty easy time making our way there. Just look for the Foster's signs - not sure what connection Australian ale has to Hungarian Jewish cuisine, but if you know what the Foster's logo looks like, you will not miss Fulemule!

On a quiet residential street, is nestled the unassuming Fulemule Etterem. A stroll from Blaha Lujza Ter (Metro/Tram), happening upon the restaurant is like winning a delicious orienteering challenge. The warm, wood-overloaded decor welcomes you with open arms and a big belly...and it's no wonder why! Tasty beer, wine, spirits and delicious, heavy food glide to your table and fill your craving for Hungarian food.

We ordered a mixed platter for starters to sample a variety of Hungarian delicacies. Our unashamed favourite was the goose skin crackling, washed down with a dark, local beer. For our main dish we had:
(Him): Crispy goose leg with fried potato latkes served with sour cream and grated cheese
(Her): 1/2 Roast duck with red cabbage and onion and garlic mashed potato

Each mouthful deserved an accompanying 'happy noise'. On both dishes, the skin was crispy and the flesh was moist, soft and flavourful. The accompaniments were delicious in their own right - when we go back, I'll just be having a serving of the latkes, they're unmissable!

By the time we had finished (and my husband finished my huge plate for me!), we were satisfied...and then we got the bill and our smiles grew larger!!! Hurray for a favourable exchange rate :)
