Great location, easy walk to the medieval walled area. We came during the weekend so the parking was free in the lot across the street. Nice big room with AC although ours didn't seem to cool things much. Discount at the hotel restaurant was nice, the included breakfast spread was good. We got a room with a balcony, it was spacious and nice for a morning coffee, not much of a view from 201 though.
Finding a hotel this nice, close in and for the price was perfect for us and our budget type.

Dear monstrt!

Many thanks for your choosing for your recent stay in Hotel Castle Garden. We are glad that our services meet your expectations at a reasonable prize you were offered. We have a 24h watched garage, which cost 10€/night although we offer the opportunity to use the public parking place of the opposite side, which is free at weekends. (The area is one of the most sophisticated and top place of the city, so there is no need feel unsafe for cars.) I truly hope to have the opportunity to welcoming you back to our Hotel in the future.

Hotel Castle Garden is a nice hotel, though out of 5 hotels on our stay in Eastern Europe, I would say that there were a few things that put it behind similarly priced hotels we had stayed.

The positives, nice, big rooms Also, convenient to have a nice restaurant/bar on location. We got a discount from the restaurant for staying at the hotel.

While the room was clean, it did seem a little musty. The front desk folks were very friendly, however, we did ask for a 2nd room key and could not get one. This made coordination a little more difficult than at just about every other place that gives 2 keys.

Finally, we had friends in Pest who did recommend staying in Pest rather than Buda. I do think, especially on a first trip, they were correct that you end up spending more time in Pest than Buda so it is probably more convenient to stay in Pest. To go back for a rest before going out for the evening, it probably adds 45 minutes to an hour if you are in Pest, want to stop at the hotel then go back to Pest.

With that being said, it was nice to walk up to easily walk up to the castle on two different nights for the most amazing views on our entire two week trip.

Dear JR_in_Illinois,

Foremost, I would like to thank you for your review of your experience. Since we are a four stars category hotel, we are tending to give this level (and even exceed) and also offer reasonable prize for it. One of the most frequented public transportation hub is the Széll Kálmán square, which located only 5 minutes from the hotel. You can have easily and fast access to the most important points of Pest with the metro or with the city tram. Since Budapest has many faces, everybody has different interest to see. You may right to stay in Pest if you have more interest to see the Jewish quarters or walking the Váci Street (shopping area) area.
Normally, giving a second key does not mean any problem; it can rarely happen that we are totally out of cards and it takes to a few days to receive new ones.
Despite of your considerations, we truly hope we will welcome you back in the near future.

Very nice hotel, well located. Clean, tastefully decorated rooms. There was efficient air-conditioning in the rooms, which was greatly appreciated in the August heat. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel was easily reached by car and there was parking spaces in front of the hotel as well as in the garage (for a reasonable price). The restaurant Riso was also very good.

We booked this hotel in October 2011, as we found the facilities and the location (I've been to Budapest before so I know the city well) very convenient for the price offered. We came by car, the hotel is located on the castle hill, just outside of the medieval city walls, it has it's own reasonable priced parking garage, there are also some payable public spaces in vicintiy. The reception stuff spoke very good english, was extremly helpful with all the city maps and other brochures. We were given room on the first floor overloking castle hill and entrance of the hotel( the other side has a view over the city). Windows were French balcony style, sound proof, room was very bright and modern, there was a coffee/tea maker in the room, with variaty of different teas, the bathroom was big, modern with bathtub. Free wireless Internet is working first-class! Sleeping quality was good, hotel was very quiet.
In the reception area, there were also some free snacks, peanuts, fruits and beverages available throughout the day, the hotel also has it's own, very good and modern restaurant with emphasis on Hungarian cuisine and variaty of Hungarian wines. Prices are by western european standards moderate. In the same room, also the breakfast is served.
If you want to use the public transport, there is a bus staion about 20 m form the hotel, about 300m down the slope you will found metro/tram station on former "Moszkva ter". There is also a large shopping mall. You can also reach the castle in 10 minute walk up the road or the Deli train station in 20 minutey by foot. All in all, excellent location.
The only thing that bothered me, was a bit slow service in restaurant, and an old "russian style" waiter at breakfast. Otherwise top hotel!

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the city have a stuning view

Dear MannyRiviera!

First and foremost I would like to thank you for your time to write your detailed review of your staying with us. We still have a great team at the reception who is 24h at our guests’ service and we still provide an inclusive coffer corner from 11:00-17:00 daily. The restaurant has been renovated giving a new face of the place and they always have updated menu offer. As room tip, I also would recommend our superior room with balcony overlooking the city. If you are planning to visit Budapest again, please do not hesitate to contact to us!

This hotel is great: Modern, extremely clean, nice rooms, and very friendly and helpful staff members (they helped us print some vouchers that we needed for our next destination).
The only downside is the location, because it is located up a hill in Buda while everything happens in Pest. However, it is 5 minutes away by foot to a metro and tram station that takes you anywhere.
It is completely worth staying here. Probably the best value-price ratio you can find.

The personnel was very friendly and helpfull. They offered us 15% discount from the dinner price if we serve it at the hotel's restaurant. They also gave us a card for a 5% discount of our eventual future reservation made directly on their website. I also liked very much the location. We took a short walk to the Danube river, just 10 minutes of walking. The rooms are very clean, there are plenty of tv channels available in more languages, without pay tv. Breakfast was also of good quality, including some local specialties. Internet connection is very good via clable (Ethernet). There is also free wi-fi available on all the floors, but we did not use it.

The coffee included in the breakfast buffet is very poor. However, you can order a very good espresso at the bar, for around 1 eur. There are not many options for the breakfast, but it is enough though. Parking is possible in the garage, but it is a bit expensive: 10 eur per night.

Dear testmuc!

Thank you for your great votes for our hotel on Tripadvisor.com. Regarding breakfast we have already taken improving steps to satisfy the demand; new coffee machine has been installed recently with quality German coffee, so we hope at your next visit you won’t be disappointed. The parking fee is relatively normal in the area (if you consider that we provide 24h camera watched garage) comparing to other hotels in the district. We truly hope, we can welcome you back in our hotel!

Stayed for 9 nights in August 2012 as a couple.

Friendly and professional welcome by the staff on arrival, quick and efficient check-in. Rooms were larger than I expected and had both windows towards the street that can be fully retracted as well as air-condition.(Though the air-condition will turn itself off if the window is open, as it should.) Nice and roomy bath-tub in the bathroom - one of the first times I've been able to enjoy a bath since I grew up, since I'm 6'4" tall. Furniture was well cared for, if not particularly stylish. Bed was large, but the mattress and pillow were both harder than I prefer, though this is of course a matter of taste.

Service was top-tier throughout the stay; especially the man working the mornings and afternoons helped us a great deal. (Also the night shift who very kindly helped us order pizza.) Housekeeping were quiet, efficient and professional. (Though I think I gave them a scare one day, since we were bed-ridden with flu on the first 3 days and sleeping all day.) Restaurant staff both professional and polite. Can't say anything about the breakfast, but the evening meals we took in the restaurant were always good and the rice-noodles with chicken and soy sauce can be recommended to anyone.

Location is nice and quiet in the Buda hills just across the river. A comfortable 10-minute downhill walk to Batthyany Ter will get you to a major HEV/Metro/tram/bus junction from which you'll be able to get wherever you need. Coming back, it's also easy to take the metro one step further to Szell Kalman Ter and shop at the large Mammut mall for your needs and take the somewhat easier walk back up to the hotel. (Same distance, but half the incline. Also I think I saw some buses going up the hill, labeled 16, which might be worth looking into if you're elderly or infirm.)

Some time spent looking at a map recommended, since it's easy to miss a few of the shortcuts going down the hill, but once you know the way it's a hotel that scores very well on location.

We have only two minor detractions at all for our stay.
1. There were only 5 english TV channels, mostly news outlets.
2. There is no floor-drain in the bathroom and the curtain door is both too narrow and not perfectly aligned at the bottom, so if you shower in the bathtub the floor will get splashed and be slippery. Easily solved by installing a more normal curtain or just draping towels over the side of the tub.

Room Tip: Consider asking for a room away from the restaurant; some guests had a wedding celebration one of th...

Dear Andreas O!

Let me thank you for your all-embracing positive comment for your time to write your review sharing it on the Tripadvisor page. I am quite impressed about your handy description, which will be usefully for those who are planning to see Budapest. Yes, there is a bus line no 16, which goes through the castle till the Deák Ferenc square. We have taken good note of your comments regarding the floor-drain and the TV.I hope you will have the opportunity to visit our hotel again to have at least as good holiday as you had this time.
