We stopped by the one near the Mammut. Seemed perfect since the 4/6 tram is nearby and takes you right out to Margaret Island. The sandwiches are honestly great though one was a bit weird. Figured these were like Trzesniewski's in Vienna but they were a mix of egg salad, meat salad (beef), and butter bases w/ stuff on top. Overall great, except the one cheese one. That reminded me too much of the filling inside of Combos, that pretzel snack food in the states. I'd do it again, and honestly want to import this idea to the states. Too bad Americans don't like pre-made food or I think it would really go over well.

The staff don't really speak English, but like any fast food they understand pointing and numbers.

We were walking in downtown Budapest when we spied dozens of tiny open faced sandwiches in the window. Each impecably dressed. We got 8 of them and picked up a bottle of Egri Bikaver (Bull's Blood Wine) and headed home. The sandwiches were all good, and made a nice change from the heavy, traditional Hungarian food.

I got this hot tip from Eyewitness Travel (Top 10 Budapest), after visiting St Stephen's Basilica, which I highly recommend, stop at this mini sandwiches bar to refuel your energy. It is about 200m from the Basilica. Choose your sandwiches (ham, egg, salmon, pepperoni, caviar, salad, etc) and wash them down with an ice cold lemonade. The prices are ludicrous cheep (eg. the caviar mini sandwich, probably the most expensive one, costs 1 euro, that's it one euro).

We had to stop in our tracks when we were walking by this place as the window was full of tantalizingly wonderful, colorful and creative mini sandwiches. We wanted one of each right then and there! We did get an assortment and enjoyed them immensely while people watching from a picnic table in the park across the street. It was one of the "very nice" moments we think of fondly when we think of our time trying to live like locals in Budapest. We wish we had a Duran Sandwich shop in New York City!
