First of all, owner/receptionist (blond woman) was super rude. On entering our room, it smelled like piss and sweat (really no kidding or exaggerating!). It is only too bad that we don't have the technology to record smell! Anyways, we asked for a room freshener, which for a while did seem to mitigate the smell. We left for sightseeing at 8pm (we had arrived at 7pm). After coming back, the room still stunk. Finally we discovered it was the blankets that smelled so bad. I called the receptionist (at about 10.30pm)-she was super rude, did not provide us with fresh blankets and really slammed the door of our room on my face. I had to lock the blankets in the cupboards to not smell them through the night! Me and my parents ended up (not)sleeping through the night feeling cold.
I have travelled a lot, been to different kinds of hotels (from low- to high-end) and I have never been this angry! It is really not in my nature to complain and I generally try to be empathetic and kind towards people serving us, but Hungaria Guesthouse really overshadowed the Parlament for us! Great job ruining Budapest for us!

Firstly, don't be put off by the entrance! It looks like a derelict building but once inside there is a lovely cool garden and guesthouse. The rooms are clean and spacious and the showers are good. It's basic and noisy from the railway but for £16 a night for 2 of us its great. The tram is just across the road and the metro is a 10 min walk, both are cheap. There is a lovely communal area for cooking etc but the washing machines are for staff use only. The best thing is the secure parking at the back (5 euro per night) as we are travelling in our camper and having a couple of nights out for the Sziget festival.

We came with group of 5 on Saturday evening. We have been served by older blond women who took cash from us but then gave us room with three beds only . We have been told they are fully booked and these are only beds left. we showed them confirmation E - mail with Ms.Janan that we have booked 2 days for 5 people . We requested to give us money back so we could book some other place. They refused to give us money which we have have them few minutes earlier. Anyway I called my Hubgarian friend in London and after 30 minutes of conversation we have been told that if we pay extra 10000 ft we they will give us room. We paid extra money and we got to room at the attic. Very unprofessional unfriendly staff. Especially blond women who prevented to not speak English.( She did with other guests). I would definitely not recommend this place. I travel at least once every two weeks but this was the worse accommodation experience ever.

Pretty far from the center of the city. If you'll come from the airport you should change bus, metro and tram (530+ 350 Ft per person). It's not a touristic area at all, so pretty hard to find place to byu food (kitchen is ok, you can prepare simple food and make tea, coffee is from paying automat). Bathrooms are old. A lot of narrow stairs in the building. Staff has poor English.
Nice garden to have a smoke tea o tokaj wine.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are view to the railway

We stayed for two nights in a room of three. The room was small, but it had enough space for us three. It has a small table with chairs which are ok. The bathroom was ok. The only bad thing is maybe the shower which is really old, takes a while to heat and the curtain is small, so most of the water comes out. The room is also really cold...

The place has a really bad acoustic, the walls are too thin and therefore it's really loud and you can hear EVERYTHING.It's almost like a whole big room, because you can hear the other guests clearly, so for the noise sensible people this is not really a good option. Wish it wouldn't be that bad. The doors are also a bit noisy And let's not forget, there is a train going every 15 mins. nearby so this is also a big deal...

Overall the place is ok! We had a lovely time in Budapest so it was all worth it.
