“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Bob was the perfect host, friendly and attentive. Gave us a map and other info on Budapest. Each time we came in he provided us with a jug of cold water directly from the fridge. Much appreciated in the heat of summer. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. We slept very well. The fan was much appreciated at night. The wifi had a strong signal. The building itself is very interesting and it felt like going back in time in the hallway. Loved the old lift and staircase etc.

We walked from the Keliti railway station (about 20 minutes or so), and walked into the city every day. Close to the Synagogue so you can't get lost. Had a taxi to the Deli railway station, but it was cheap. Bob rang the taxi for us and allowed us to leave our luggage there until it was time to leave.

The breakfast was served at a cafe around the corner. We enjoyed it - a drink plus a choice of sandwich (it was bread roll with choice of fillings) or muesli which came with fruit and yoghurt or egg and bacon (not a huge breakfast but perfectly adequate - we enjoyed it). Enjoyed sitting outside eating breakfast before walking into the city.

Had a lovely stay and can recommend the Danube Guest House for a stay in the beautiful Budpest.

Budapest is one of the world's most walkable cities to get around. But you need to find an affordable and convenient place to rest and sleep. For sheer value and convenience, the Danube Guest House is hard to beat.

Almost next to the Synagogue, the Danube Guest House hosts, Zoltan and Bob are keen to show off their town. The best and most interesting restaurants and bars are within a block or less. You get a quick briefing of the best ways to get around on the underground as well as the various buses.

Most importantly you can purchase advance tickets to the Széchenyi thermal baths.

Situated within a huge courtyard building on the fisrt floor, its lodgings are clean, secure and there is free wifi.

It's not for people that want to lounge around their bathrooms or bedrooms though as accommodation is quite cosy. But if you want a place for exploring Budapest easily with little fuss and affordably, the Danube Guest House ticks all the boxes.

Danube Guest House was my husband's find!! When we first arrived in Budapest we had a little difficulty in finding the address but once there.....We loved the location. The rooms were tastefully decorated and very clean.. and the beds were extremely comfortable!! Zoltan and Bob, the proprietors, were very friendly and accommodating. We were a little disappointed that there was no coffee in the mornings, but they provided us with coupons for breakfast at a café around the corner from the Danube for every day that we stayed. Wish we could have stayed longer there were many places in Budapest that we didn't have time to discover since we were only there for 3 days. Definitely recommend staying at the Danube Guest and discovering Budapest!

We chose to stay at Danube Guest House for our visit to Budapest, definitely the right choice. We stayed for 4 nights loved Budapest it is a fantastic city 10 times better than Prague. We are a young couple in our mid twenties found Budapest to be so diverse with something for everyone, and our accommodation toped off an overall great stay. The host's Zoltan and Bob are both extremely helpful giving us a map and taking time to show us what to do from sites to see, places to go for a drink and some fantastic restaurants that you would never find on your own. They also helped us book the activities we wanted to do while we were there. Location is very central, everything we wanted to see and do was all within short walking distance from the Guest House. When we go back to Budapest we will not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend to anyone planning a trip to Budapest

I stayed in this guesthouse for 2 nights. The location is very good and safe. It is behind the beautiful synagogue. When you check in you recieve a map of the town with a lot of good tips and advice. Indeed, Zoltan and Bob are very helpfull with everything. The room was neat and clean. The bed was comfortable. Really, if i go back to Budapest i will stay here again! By the way, a very good value for money i have to say!

Located between the Keleti train station and Pest old town, in the heart of the Jewish quarter, this guest house is well located and beautifully refurbished. The rooms are all great with tasteful decor and good beds and showers. Zoltan and Bob were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and accommodating. The immediate neighbourhood is full of interesting architecture and is really buzzing at night, without being crowded or noisy. Budapest is a great city with a wide variety of things to visit and do. We had a great time. Breakfast is by way of vouchers round the corner, and you may want to get there early unless you like fired eggs - but also ask for the yoghurt and muesli which is delicious. Thanks again Zolly and Bob!

Zoltan and Bob were fantastic and made our visit both fun and memorable. Throughout our stay they were both helpful and friendly.

Our room was comfortable, although it was hot in the day time (need some bigger fans when it is over 80 degrees) but by the time we got in each night from our exploits not a problem. We slept with the windows open without a problem, but some might not like the noise (we are from a city and are used to street noise). I would however replace the ceiling lights with ceiling fans which would be great when it is really hot!

The breakfast situation is a little strange in that you have to eat down the street at the "Bocadillo." The meals offered there are not the best but are adquate, but again the staff is great. Be sure and go early as the Bocadillo tends to run out of "the good stuff" the later you are into the morning. All in all, because of Zotan and Bob, we would stay at the B&B again, they truly make the "visit" memorable and we were thankful for their help and friendliness.

Room Tip: Street noise can be a problem (several bars outside the windows) so if you are overly sensitive I wo...
