“Good place to stay”

This pension was clean, modern and centrally located. The service was friendly, Zoltan welcomed us, gave us restaurant and bar recommendations and suggested a tour we could do. Free wifi and good breakfast options at a nearby cafe included, Good value for money, would recommend and make a return visit.

From the beautiful website which showed exactly what guests could expect, the attention to detail, the service and the hospitality shown by the hosts, this guest house stands out above all others. Bob & Zoltan treated my husband and I superbly, guiding us to the best places to eat, (don't miss Chictochic for their duck special on a Thursday), providing maps, helpful suggestions and regularly replenishing our jugs of cold water, which was appreciated in the unusually hot weather.

The decor was lovely, rooms immaculate, and little touches like magazines and books to read appreciated. We had friends visit during our stay and our hosts never hesitated in welcoming them into their home. The location of this guest house is ideal, being just a short walk away from the metro with plenty of restaurants & well known landmarks close by.

If you are looking for something personal go no further than this lovely establishment and do book well in advance as this little gem is very popular!

Room Tip: I recommend choosing a room on the courtyard side which is quieter and cooler in summer than overloo...

My girlfriend and I visited Budapest one week ago and we were both extremely satisfied by the quality of this place. First of all, the hosts Zoltan and Bob are both very kind and helpful. When we first arrived, they took some time to guide us through the city with a map, pointing us to some good restaurants and places that shouldn't be missed during our stay. They were always very friendly and asking us if we needed anything. The cold water offered everyday was a blessing considering the temperature... The rooms are clean and although ours was a bit small, it was more than enough for 5 nights, considering that we spent 90% of the day in the city. The location is perfect, 2 minutes from Astoria and walking distance to Deac Ferenc. Breakfast was to be taken in a restaurant near from the guesthouse and the service was decent. Different choices between bacon & eggs, tortilla and sandwiches. Excellent choice, you won't be sorry.

A group of us stayed at this guest house a few weeks ago. I have never felt inclined to write a review on here before but the kind welcome we received from Zoltan (the owner) and the excellent advice he gave us of where to visit/eat/drink proved invaluable. The location of this Guest House was second to none, away from the mainstream overpriced tourist rubbish (if you like this then just stay in your nearest capital city) and close to the heartbeat of the real town. I would love to visit Budapest again soon and I would look no further than this place to use as my base for the night.

The Danube Guest House provided my family a comfortable and convenient place during our 4 night stay in Budapest. We are a family of four - two teenage girls and my husband and I, we found while traveling through Eastern Europe we needed two rooms to accommodate us. Because of the great value of the Danube guest house this didn't hurt our budget. The rooms were comfortable and immaculately clean. Zoltan and Bob were helpful hosts providing us with directions, recommendations and plenty of cold water to keep hydrated. The location was within walking distance of many sights - the bus easily accessible for those who prefer not to walk. Loved this place and would stay there again.

I can't recommend this place enough. The other reviews pretty much sum it up: Zoltan and Bob are the best kind of hosts you could ask for (as my friend and I stumbled in one night after few too many Palinkas, Bob gently asked us, 'Would you guys like some water?') And as soon as we arrived, they sat us down and gave us a few tips on the city. Our small double room WAS small, but it more than sufficed for the cheap price, and it was clean and lovely. Again, can't recommend the guesthouse and Budapest enough – both exceptional experiences!

Zoltan and Bob made us feel right at home, and the rooms are luxurious. The guesthouse has a great location, with the bars and nightclub district a few blocks in one direction, the big central square a few blocks in the other, and plenty of shops and supplies nearby. We stayed 3 nights but could have stayed twice as long and not had our fill of Budapest.
