“On top of our gourmet restaurant list”

The degustation menus offered by Onyx resemble theatrical experience. Art of dining in every sense: the sometimes surprising composition and fantastically pleasant taste of beautifully laid out food on your plate paired with excellent service in a charming environment are totally thrilling. During the degustation meal you would continuously be offered a dozen different fresh-baked bread, and what a bread experience that will be! Not at all low budget, but definitely worth saving for.

“Over the top of the top”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

If you want to pay $200 per person, for a six course tasting dinner matched with wines, including a special formal waiter and cart just for the serving of many different choices of breads, you are in business here. It is a gastronomical marathon, full of gourmet touches and luxury. As for value for money--this is for you to decide. I would come here for very, very special occasions only.

“Treat yourself, don't miss the opportunity!”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

Once in Budapest and your budget allows, treat yourself at this Michelin star restaurant. At lunch time it is absolutely great value. Dinner is more formal and expensive but still far from western European prices for such a meal. One of my favourites in Budapest, I return every now and then on special occasions and allways loved it!

“Wow”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

Went for lunch. Three course meal - goulash, veal and langoustine, and chocolate. They were all fabulous. And the breads! Each was better than the next, and all were among the best I have ever had. Not only the best meal I had in Budapest, but perhaps during my thus far two month European stay. Cannot comment on wine - I stuck to water. I cannot possibly recommend a place more highly. GO!

“Pricey but good food”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

We didn't get a wide selection, either a 6-course taster menu or a 8-course taster menu or a small a-la-carte that is based largely on the taster menu

We opted for the 25,500 Ft 6-course taster menu. The waiter did say we could pick and choose and am quite pleased that the goose dish was swapped with the Tuna Tartare which is nice.

We were on holiday and didn't have much formal clothes around and am quite pleased that we were not too out of place when we go in our smart casual.

There is an amazingly large selection of bread. The service was good and were treated equally well even though we opted for no alcohol.

The food is truly haute cuisine.
