Four of us tried Onyx's set lunch menu with glasses of their recommended wines. We all agreed that the food was delicious from an imaginative and interesting menu. The dessert may well have been the star of the show. It was all beautifully prepared, presented and served, and we found the service from the staff was beyond reproach.

The restaurant itself is small, and opulently decorated. All in all, it made for a nice relaxing lunch; certainly up to Michelin star standards. Expensive? Yes, but not outrageously so. Actually, we thought it was pretty good value for money.

We visited Onyx based on Tripadvisor ratings and were more than disappointed. The tasting menu took almost 3 1/2 hours to wade through and with the exception of the lamb, was very ordinary. We did not order the wine flight served with each course. Instead, I asked the sommelier for a recommendation and we drank a very expensive, watery pInot noir.

I was there a few days ago with my family. We had 3 course lunch: goulash soup, veal with onions, carrots, beans and etc. and of course a dessert. Dishes were splendid!! Prices were good too. And if u think it's too expensive, u can go to Onyx for lunch. On the whole we were satisfied:)

We went to Onyx after reading the reviews and looking at the menu online, so we knew what to expect. The place is nicely decorated; the staff is kind and the service good. Before starting they offered a great selection of breads. We chose the Hungarian menu (as everybody in your table must have the same, which we found a bit odd), and my husband asked for the wine pairing. The food was really good. We loved the buffalo tartar, the way they fixed the fois grass, the venison, and the dessert. There was also an egg in the middle, which was not bad but we found a little out of place. My husband found the pairing a bit unfortunate, even though the wines were good. I requested a glass of red wine, which was just ok. What we did not expect -because it is not announced and it is not the rule in Budapest- is that they charged 15% service fee, which together with everything else (as a severly overpriced glass of red wine) came to a total of 300 euros. To tell the truth, it was not thaaat good. If it had cost a third less, it would have been a really good place to eat.

As in all Michelin restaurants, the dinner in Onyx doesn't get cheap, so I booked a lunchmeny, where the cost is more decent. Both the food and the service was outstanding, one of the best we ever ever. Highly recommended!
