“Hotel air conditioning not working very well in July heat...! Good hotel otherwise though!!!!”
Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

Just back from a stay during the July heat..

First room the air con didn't work at all, it was a very warm sweltering night! We then got swapped to a street room with windows which was better but still very hot - at least we could open the windows... I think the air con is old and struggling to cope in the weather - which is not great as it gets extremely hot in Budapest!.

The hotel staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpfull whilst we were there.. Clean place with good facilities and fab location!

We stayed here 3 nights in early June 2013. The hotel is located on the pedestrianised Vaci Street and is excellent value. The room are spacious if a bit basic but you have all you need. There is a very good breakfast choice on the sixth floor and the staff are friendly and helpful. The Vaci Street tourist area in Pest is still being developed and improved as does all of Pest it seems.
You may need to check your restaurant bill if you choose to eat on this street. The food was quite good but I really couldn't tally up what we were charged in a couple of places, and the violinists who come to your table expect a generous tip. Try Cyranos round the corner. A bit dearer but probably works out the same after the dubious bills you get on Vaci. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights in June.

Hotel location is excellent - walking distance to most sites and close to 3 metro stops. On the main pedestrianised shopping street.

Presented with a welcome pack on arrival containing attraction leaflets, vouchers etc.

Room was small (single room) but extremely well designed to make the most of the available space - all furniture was modern, air-con, fairly priced mini bar and even real hangers in the wardrobe, (rather than those permanently fixed things!) Free wi-fi also worked well.

Room window looked out onto an internal area, not really an issue though - Cleanliness of room, bathroom and hotel throughout the stay was excellent - though bigger towels in the bathroom would have been nice.

Breakfast room on top floor with a decent continental offer - could perhaps be improved by providing a toaster and a slightly bigger choice of cereals, but was certainly more than adequate for the price.

Staff were excellent thoughout - happy to make suggestions as to transport / attractions to visit.

Well worth visiting - if all the budget hotels were this good, we wouldn't need the expensive ones.

We had a very good time in Budapest. Weather was a bit cooler than last year. (we were in a heat wave last year). Hotel staff very friendly and we were always greeted with a smile. The room was nice and clean and the air conditioning worked well and was very quiet. It was situated in a very good spot. It is a wonderful city to see. One good thing if you are over 65 and live in an EU country you can travel on the public transport for free.

The only down side was there was no english tea and no toaster. If you do not like fruit tea I suggest you take your own. There was alway plenty of breakfast, the staff were always topping the trays up.

Great hotel very central to see everything, clean comfortable, helpful staff, good breakfast, only downside no toiletries provided and not all rooms have outside window so can get very hot even with the air con.

Room Tip: try to get a room at the front

Superb value hotel. Such a central location, everything on your doorstep

Staff are extremely helpful, breakfast is good. The rooms are modern and clean. Didn't find them particularly small like some reviewers have mentioned.

Would recommend this place to anyone going to budapest .

The hotel is situated on the main pedestrian street and in walking distance of most attractions. The hotel is very clean and well presented. The reception staff were very helpful, nothing too much trouble. We had a room on the top floor and found the lift rather noisy during the night. As the hotel is situated between shops, many of the rooms face onto a blank wall. Breakfast was self service and was adequate. The breakfast room is on the top floor. The hotel does not have a bar or lounge area but rooms have a mini bar with reasonably priced drinks.
We used the airport minibus service from the airport which dropped us and picked us up as near as possible to the hotel, a few hundred yards away. They were very reliable.
We had booked a tour of the Parliament Building on the Internet which saved having to queue. We paid for a 48hour bus tour on the Blue Bus and boat trip. We were disappointed as some of their transport was by coaches rather than an open top bus - recommend looking at the other companies on offer.
We had a 4 night stay in Budapest which gave us enough time to see all the sights.
