The history to this 'attraction' is upsetting and tragic, but we felt we should pay our respects while in a Budapest.

Simple idea which really conveyed the awful thing that happened. Certainly made me think of how it must have felt to stand there and wait to be shot. Has society really moved on??

...but it was worth it. There was something so simple and moving about the Shoes, that you will almost feel the grief. There are no signs, no explanations - just a silent understanding of what the Shoes stand for.

Stumbled across this memorial on the walk down the Danube ... Very moving and thought provoking . Well done to Hungary to show a reminder in a different way ... Worth a look !!

Very poignant and with a beautiful backdrop on the other side of the river. Unfortunately there's nothing on-site to explain why it's there.
