Shoes on Danube are reminder of terrors of II world war. You can find this monument in Pest, across the Parlament, on river bank.
All the shoes are replica of original ones which belonged to victims who were killed and thrown in river.

A place to stop. Think,. and then relect on mans inhumanity to man, and hope that this will not happen again, but regretfully, we do not learn from our past.

A short walk from the parliament along the Danube, the iron shoes serve as a memorial to those executed here, directly referencing orders to the victims to take their valuable footwear off first.

This is a profoundly simple and incredibly powerful monument to the people killed there. It is worth visiting to understand the history and the fact that women and children were killed along side men.

I had been told this was a must see and can agree it was. The shoes are a haunting reminder of what happended there to 60 people, men women and children in world war II.

It's quite easy to find. Just 100 yards or so, right, from the Chain Bridge on Pest side.
