This was a very moving exhibit. However, it was extremely difficult to get to. It was necessary to walk along a highway and cut across it to reach the exhibit. It is definitely worth seeing.

Powerful, disturbing message, emotion and a heartbreaking pain.
A simple idea, but neither was supposed to be something else.
All the flowers in the world, all the candles and all our tears.
We will NEVER FORGET what happened those years and WON'T FORGIVE.

This is worth a viewing when you go to Budapest. It is not marked on all maps but is relatively easy to find once you realise that it is on Pest side really close to Parliament. There is a busy road to cross to get to it. Once you understand the history behind the shoes memorial, it makes the experience of viewing them worthwhile. Definitely recommend a trip if you have some time!

If you don't have time to see the Shoes on the Danube Promenade then your priorities are out of whack. Shoes of all sizes, from childrens shoes to adults shoes and boots. Sit and ponder for a long time. Take your pictures. Imagine the piles of clothes, the humiliation, terror, gun shots and the splashes. Evil reigned for a period of time but thank God in Heaven that that chapter came to a close. And thank God that He is just and He has appointed a day of judgment from which no one will escape. To see the Shoes is not a fun or pleasurable experience but it is life changing. And to think I know people who knew people who were victims of such arrogance and evil.

Understand the story of those that lost their lives at this spot on the danube. It is not an attraction to be seen. It is a memorial to be understood, visited, and respected so that we may never forget the loss of life for such reasons.
