“Westend could be Westfield!”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Happened to walk into this wedge shaped center when we were looking for a meal. It could have been a Westfield shopping center from back home. It has almost no Hungarian flavor and the food center shouts of globalisation. The food outlets are the same here as elsewhere. We decided on a curry from Pakistani outlet, which was reasonable. Food selection was a disappointment and the designer shops in the same league. If you miss this City Center you have suffered no loss!
The waterfall wall/display was novel and that's the most favourable comment I can make.

“rainy day amusement”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

It happened to rain just one afternoon in our 3 day visit and we spent that time in this big mall. Nice and clean and classy modern shopping center that is easily reached by subway. You can easily spend half a day shopping in this center...

“got -nearly- every thing, but not impressive...”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

If you would like to have an idea about malls in Budapest, this is an example, do Not expect a "wow" mall, but you may find some of your requirements, the prices were reasonable, ( but not as cheap as you may think it would be in a country that joined the E.U, and the Euro zone recently ). Not every body speaks English, so you will struggle "a little bit" to be understood. At the end, I am SURE that the Ladies Will get All that they want.!!!!

“All in all OK (a typical shopping center), BUT!”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

We went to West End during our stay in Budapest. Because the travel guide advised us the shopping center and we had some time left on Saturday evening we went there. It is quite big and of course modern, so no disappointing although it is nothing very special compared to other shopping centers. So we had a good feeling and looked around. We spotted a Desigual store where we wanted to have a quick look. But on the way to it a seemingly nice guy talked to us and offered us candy (yeah, it sounds ridiculous) and an excellent crema for the nails of my girlfriend (she recently had some trouble with her fingernails). The guy applied it immediately and it worked fine, so we entered with him the store. Yeah, then he offered us a lotion which seemed to be very nice for 6000 Ft. To shorten the story up: He tricked us and made my girlfriend pay 60.000 Ft. We left the store - because I had a strange feeling, I checked the bill and - to our surprise - the bill showed 60.000 Ft (= 200 EUR) for this sh**y lotion. So we immediately decided to go back for make a refund. The shopkeeper denied to make a refund because of some various reasons (which, is in fact also in Hungary illegal behavior). Because it was nearly closing hour we could not call immediately the police. Therefore, we went to the police on our last day (holiday in Hungary) and made a report. Thank god we paid with VISA.

The name of this crap shop is Seacret. Be alerted if you come in the near of that one. The homepage of West End center says that there are two Seacret stores in the center.

The good impression of West End was ruined for me for having such a kind of shops. An excellent, but also a good shopping center has non-betraying shops. This is a complete no-go. It is a pity for a shopping center, which I would otherwise rated with at least four points.
