The place is very authentic, located in the basement. It can be hard to find, but it's well worth it. The staff is very kind, if you go there only twice a year, they still remember you. The sushi is very good, the tea is fine and hot. You really should try it.

Because this is Budapest and being so far away from the sea and not a very large sushi eating culture, I give an AVERAGE rating. Had this restaurant been in California and served the same food, then it would be rated a POOR.

The location, not so easy to find, in the basement of a strip mall. Nevertheless, the seating area was clean and spacious. The restaurant has been open for 13 years so many are regulars.

The service was very very good. The one waitress serving for the night was very kind and helpful and attentive to our needs. What was a bit uncomfortable was one of the regular patrons helping her out serving the food as the other waitress was on vacation. Maybe it is just me, but I didn't like it so much.

The Food. As said, being in Budapest, the total volume of sushi served is limited and being so far from the sea, the availability and variety of fresh seafood is very limited. Nevertheless, of the fried fish dishes and sushi served, they were fresh.

The disappointing bit was the rice, lack of taste, neither sour nor sweet, too large in portion compared to the fish and too wet and heavy.

The total variety offered on the menu was very limited a few appetizers, a few fried fish dishes and sushi. In the end, it was easier for us just to tell the waitress to tell the chef to make something for us.... Unless of course if you were Japanese, then you can negotiate with the owner/cook and get something off menu.

There was one type of sake, which tasted fine and of course, Kirin & Asahi beer.

Bring cash, no credit cards accepted, not cheap.

Would we go back? Probably first to Sushi Sei across the street.

11 of us of 8 nationalities had lunch there today. We easily found the place in the basement and found the simple Japanese decor adequate. We got good, friendly, efficient service from the 1 waitress, and we all agreed that it was the best sushi in Hungary, all freshly made. A favorite was #40.

This place (you like it or not) exactly looks like a typical izakaya in Japan. Yes, it is not fancy, it is in the basement (just like in Japan), but who cares if you get the best sashimi on Earth and nicest service ever: close to haven.

first of all, this is not very easy to find for us, but eventually we arrived...

first, the NEGATIVE points:
- so, the restaurant itself doesn't look very clean and as some other people said it's placed in a basement...
- the menu is not very elaborate and the pictures are already yellowed.
- the prices are NOT that low!

the POSITIVE points:
- the food itself was totaly fine.
- the waitresses were really nice!

so, it depends on what you are looking for, but in my opinion it was just average.
