The Royal Residence is colocated with the Grand Hotel Royal, which offers several fine dining restaurants and a nice spa.
The appartments are spacious, elegant and adequately furbished. The main point for me coming back there is the nice atmosphere of the residence (the hotel is a bit too posh for me), the in-house restaurant Bock Bistro (Bib gourmand), the spa and the location in the city center with the tram 4/6 going directly before the hotel, metro line 1 being 200m away.
Ideal for city trips with your family where you need a quiet and cozy home and be close to the center to have short travel time for sightseeing or shopping.
The place is clearly in the most expensive level of the hotels in Budapest, the apartments starting around 200 euro per night, I think it is still worth it, since here you get a 2 bedroom, 80 sqm flat with an equipped kitchen instead of a double-room.
Own parking house with 24 hour security guard presence is next to the apartments.
Book a ground-floor apartment (room 2xx) so you get kind of own garden and back in the air-shaft you can put the dryer.
There are very few minus points: the opening hours of the spa is very limited for children (11-16), which makes it practically impossible for child families to enjoy the swimming pool on the day of arrival and departure. Also, most of small kids actually sleep in this period.
The desks have glass plates as covers and they are not exactly precise in size so some of the corners are dangerous for kids.
There is no tumble dryer, so you have to use a normal dryer for your clothes.
The internet is free (nice), but it seems quite unnecessary that it is bandwidth limited and the "premium service" is offered for approx 15 euro/day.
