Just a good local restaurant. When we're visiting Budapest we use this restaurant whenever we have guests. The food never disappoints, good value and nice staff.

Lovely setting, service was good! Great Caprese, in fact one of the best i have ever had. A Gypsy stag event also added to the atmosphere! The presentation is rustic and lacks style but the flavors in this case did the talking!

I love sitting in their garden, eating fish soup. It is not fancy, but excellent food, Hungarian spices, lot of paprika and garlic. I loved Rácponty also which is potatoes layered with fish and sour cream all cooked together in the oven.

A traditional restaurant somewhat off the beaten track, but worth visiting. The decor is somewhat tired; the bathrooms are a bit run down. The menu, however is rich, a vast selection of typical and not so typical Hungarian dishes.
I had to smile to see “Fish soup made of Wels in a cat fish” on the menu, it was of course Wels (a kind of cat fish) in a kettle, and it was excellent. They also offer three different kinds of fish soup made of carp, which may be even tastier, but you have to watch out for the fish bones. Other home-style soups on the menu are also excellent. For the main course I had the “Paprika sterlet (a kind of sturgeon) with bolete-mushroom” , it was not bad, but had the characteristic taste and appearance of warmed-up restaurant dishes. The others at the table also had sterlet, but with capers, it was all right. The wine (Hilltop Premium Sauvignon Blanc) was excellent.
For dessert I had the chestnut puree, it was again all right, but nothing extraordinary.
The bill came to HUF 40,000 (or US$ 180) for the five of us, with a bottle of wine, somewhat more than I would have expected.
In the summer they have a very pleasant garden with a small playground for children.

It might seem to be a little out of the way, but it is not. You can take the tram 59 from, Szál Kálmán tér, 15 minutes. Cosy garden, nice atmosphere, and the best Hungarian food you can find! Try the Fish Soup!!!
