Had dinner here on a recent Saturday night, and loved the classic French bistro food, the open kitchen, the live music and the cool atmosphere. I had a great steak frites and while the place was totally packed, the service kept pace.

Cafe Deryne was recommended by our hotel - Brodie House and it certainly lived up to their accolades. It made a very pleasant change to the typical Hungarian dishes although the classic French dishes still enjoyed a local twist. We sat up near the open kitchen area which was perfect and enjoed their eclectic decor and interesting knick knacks which all added to the distinctive ambience. We both had a classic French favourite - confit of duck which was nice and crispy plus red cabbage. The staff were all very friendly and the standard of service was very good. We were there at lunchtrime and it was fairly quiet but suspect by the number of covers that evenings could be very busy. Definately worth a visit.

I decided to write an updated review on Cafe Deryne. The reason:the owners have done a tremendous job in updating this cafe which is a local favourite.so what has changed and why I would recommend it for anyone visiting.First and foremost the place creates an atmosphere and ambience which makes you feel like staying for hours. We have spent a dinner and several occassions for a coffee and cake (the trademark "turogomboc" or "csaszarmorzsa") we simply could hardly leave the place.secondly the staff and waiters take really good care of us making even recommendations for foods without being too pushy.last but not least the food has really become something to look forward too at Deryne.while I am an extremely critical person when it comes to service and food quality I would warmly recommend this bistro for anyone.watch out for the newly renovated venue next door also operated by the same owners. Both places are already one of my favourites.a big heads up and please keep the same quality for he future!

well, the whole thing overall was still ok, but after a start with home made butter and fresh hot bread straight out of the bar was already high. And then came the broth at room temperature, and the grimace when we mentioned it. Our main dish tasted again quite nice, exept one of our guests had some minor changes to his salad, that has been totally forgotten on the way to the kitchen. Again grimace. I think this place with so good reputation sud not have such attitude.

I recommend it for those who would like a stop a bit, and not just quickly running and having a meal. In this place you won't be able anyway. Becuse when you get in and just look around you would have a feeling you want to stay for hours that's for sure :-)))
No matter what kind of dish you will choose you will like it.
