“very good second experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2014

everything was very good. The new thermal pools are very nice, including the terrace and whirlpool. The breakfast and dinner buffets are good. The rooms are spacious. Recommended for families with children, especially for the non-summer crowds of Portoroz. The services are good.

Overall it was very good. The room we got was more than nice, considering we got an upgrade to a room with a view of the sea. Excellent view. The room is spacious, the bathroom as well. The room has all amenities of a four-star hotel. Staff is extremely nice, helpful, friendly. From the reception to the bartender to housekeeping staff.

Their only downside is the food. We had half-board, where breakfast is OK, but dinner is below average. The food is plain, everything has more or less the same taste. I was of aware of this, however, because I stayed in another hotel, but of the same chain before and took half-board just for the sake of convenience, because I was here with my daughter and eating out for two weeks would be too complicated. But can't stop wishing they finally did something about their "cuisine".

What also happened was that the indoor swimming pool was closed. As it is every year at the same period for maintenance or something. I overlooked this fact when booking, so can't blame them. But on top of everything, the weather was bad for several days, so the swimming pool at the nearby Riviera/Slovenija hotels was the only swimming facility for their whole range of 5-6 hotels. You can imagine it got terribly packed on days, it was impossible to get a deck chair. People were pretty upset about this.

What I recommend to everybody is to try the Wai Thai center, which is inside Riviera hotel. It's excellent. Superb massages, outstanding service, spectacular setting.I really like Portorož and will come back again. Definitely.

We managed to find the hotel ok. Although there seemed to be a problem with our booking even though we had confirmation form the hotel. Thankfully this only took a short while to resolve. We eventually found our way through thew maze of corridors, doors etc to find our hotel room. It looks at though the Neptun hotel has been combine at some stage into the whole "Life-Class" hotels group. There are now 6 hotels virtually beside each other. The Neptun looks like the "poor relation" though, as you check-in at the reception which is situated at the Apollo hotel. You then have to make you way up steps, through various corridors, up more steps, past what looks like the old Neptun reception area until you reach the lifts to take you to your room.

The room was very good, with all the usual facilities. We had a balcony over looking the sea, which was nice.

The first problem was finding a "route" from the hotel down to the seafront and back. With all the hotels together the place was a bit of a "Rabbit Warren". My wife and I tried various routes. None of which would suit anyone who had difficulty with steps (Lots) or steep gradients. Better signage would be a good starting point.

Breakfast turned out to be very poor. The staff were very grumpy and the choice and quality of the food was very poor. The "orange juice" was the worse I have ever tasted anywhere.

The hotel only had one lift. So you had to wait quite while for it at times.

There is safe in your room but be aware it is extremely small. A large camera or tablet etc will not fit into it (Due to width and depth).

We did not use the spa facilities so we cannot comment on them.

To sum up: The rooms are very good, breakfast very poor, staff attitude - not great, general layout of the hotel, signage, access etc needs some serious improvement.

I spent my first spring visit to the sea side in this hotel. The reception was very nice - it was freshly refurbished. The room was very spacious although we were 4 people in one room. It was clean and well equiped. Maybe some chairs should be added in the room. The real nice surprise were the meals. I haven't eaten so good in a hotel for a long time! Also the variety of food was great. Even though we came in for dinner at 20:30 there were still all dishes available. Also the breakfast was excellent. Another plus of the hotel is that it is on the hill so you are a bit dislocated from the main street and less noisy.

The hotel is across the road from the sea. My coner room on the six floor had the view to die for. The room itself was spacious and clean. I booked a lot of treatments in Aurverda, Wai Tai and Thallasso centers and I enjoyed them all. The staff is very attentive there. The only negative experience was noise at nights during weekend. The music was really loud till 3 am.

Room Tip: If your room is facing the sea you will expect terrible noise from the street events and concerts (s...

Stayed at this hotel in august 2011 with my girlfriend. On arival we got big, clean room on first floor with beautiful sea view(wich we didnt pay for extra) and a big balcony. The hotel has lovely spa center, and a great position, right in the center of Portoroz, 50m from beach. Food was okay, nothing special. Portoroz itself is a nice small town, with lots of caffes and friendly people. I would recomend this resort to all people that are stayin in Portoroz.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view room
