We arrived at the Hotel Piran in early November, and had inadvertently left our voucher payment receipt in the U.S. I made several unsuccessful attempts to reach Octopus. The general manager of Hotel Piran went out of his way to help us, by contacting Octopus and getting confirmation of our voucher. Next time we won't forget the voucher.
In addition, the above gentleman contacted local authorities to clarify whether we would have a problem driving into Croatia without an international driver's license.
The staff at Hotel Piran could not have been nicer and certainly were responsible for getting our vacation started on the right foot. While not fancy, the hotel is well located on the water near the town center and served our needs very well.

We had a fabulous view of the Adriatic from our room and deck. The room was average but clean but the view made up for it. The breakfast was good with a nice view of the Adriatic. Internet computers were always available. Everyone was courteous. We would stay there again. We also reserved parking directly across the street, at a small additional charge, which made it easy to access the hotel, although we did not need it in town. Very charming and enjoyable town and hotel. Food on adjacent seaside prominade was excellent.

We stayed in an ocean view room recently and loved every minute of it. Our air conditioning was fine, we sat out on our balcony and watched the passing parade before venturing up to the restaurants and having a sensational meal. Highly recommend Hotel Piran.

I agree with a previous reviewer that AC would be nice in July and August. I asked for the AC in my room to be turned on and the hotel sent someone up immediately who did so, but it was not AC by American standards, just a tossing around of air. HOWEVER, by opening the doors to the little balcony overlooking the sea the room became open, expansive and when the breeze came in, especially at night, cool. Yes, there is a little noise outside... it is a seaside resort... but it is cheerful noise of people walking along the sea and enjoying themselves. I was very happy in my single room, which in many hotels can be more like a closet. Here is was of reasonable size, with a clean bathroom; room to move around in both comfortably. There was internet access (for a fee) on the floor I was on, the TV worked fine, plenty of hot water during showers, and there were adequate amenities. The hotel staff is splendid... very helpful, very friendly. If I have a suggestion it would be that the breakfast hours be extended. Too many people in too small a space to enjoy what was a really good spread. An extra hour on either side and the crowds would thin out and breakfast could be really enjoyed by all. I would stay here again simply for the view from my room across the sea to Croatia and the sunsets, as mentioned in another review, are breathtaking. Keep in mind the exchange rate. I was paying half what I would have paid anywhere else in Europe. This will change when Slovenia goes Euro, but for now one gets an amazing bang for the buck in this lovely, varied, and surprisingly modern country.

Our stay at the Hotel Piran was very enjoyable. The hotel is made up of three connected buildings, the lobby and reception being in the central, most modern part. The reception staff was extremely friendly and helpful in every respect. Our room was a reasonable size, with nice bathroom. We didn't request a sea view, so our window looked onto the alley below, with a view of the city walls high above in the distance. Unfortunately, there was no air-con in the room, and in July we needed to leave the window open; we discovered that the Italian influence on Istria does not stop at cuisine and architecture - there were noisy Vespa scooters buzzing around until the small hours every night! All the same, the central location and general surroundings were good compensation (and we loved the big pictures on the walls of every floor!). And the sunsets over the Adriatic are too beautiful for words. Restaurants are many and offer good quality at various prices. We liked the Dolphin, in the centre of the old town, and Flora, on the north side of the point, who served the most delicious pizzas. The pleasant stroll around the bay into Portoroz reminded us how lucky we were to be staying in Piran instead! (Portoroz is okay, but not quite the elegant riviera resort it would like to be.)
In all a comfortable and well appointed hotel with friendly service and which represented good value for money.

There are only 2 hotels in Piran: hotel Piran and hotel Tartini. We stayed at the hotel Piran and it's ok. But given the 4 stars, we expected a bit more. For Piran, I would recommend an apartment. That would be much more value for money.

There is nothing between this hotel and the Adriatic except a pedestrian promenade. When you walk into the lobby, it looks as if the hotel is built right on the sea. Walk out of the hotel and jump into the sea. The water here is very salty, and thus makes you very bouyant. Great swimming! My hotel room was clean, modern, spacious, airconditioned, had a BIG bathroom, and was inexpensive. I couldn't get a room on the seaside, but the cityside was lovely nonetheless. There are restaurants all along the promenade, as well as a short walk away in the town center. Food is good. Try the stuffed calamari almost anywhere. It's delicious! Give yourself two to three hours to eat dinner -- the pace is leisurely. The hotel breakfast is a typical Slovenian full breakfast: eggs, little weiners, cereals, juice, coffee, tea, lots of bread and spreads such as pate and honey, some fruit, tomatoes, ham, and lettuce. Buy a guidebook of Piran in the bookstore on the square. There's a lot to learn about this place. There's also a great jewelry store on the square that sells traditional handmade Slovenian and Yugoslavian silver jewelry.
