“Wheel Exhibit and Emona”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2014

We went especially for the Wheel Exhibit and got the free English tour. We were the only two there so we got our own guide who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The Wheel Tour gave a great overview of life around Ljubljana and the (famous) Wheel itself was remarkable for something so old. Definitely worth a visit.

“More for kids.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2014

The archeological floors where nice. Very informative. But the upper floors are weird. An exhibition about all kind of things that have a wheel (fake cars and stuff) and moving circles. And the room where you can experiment is not well equiped, there is no-one to explain how to do the things. All in all way too expensive for what it is.

“A nice little museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014

Ljubljana City Museum is small, but well laid out, and in a building that dates to the mid-seventeenth century. The exhibits are well thought-through, and easy to navigate, with plenty of English to help guide you.
If you're lucky, they'll still have on display the oldest known wheel - approximately 5,200 years old, found near Ljubljana.
Worth a visit.

“Fantastic museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014 via mobile

We arrived from Vienna yesterday feeling very "museumed-out", but what else can you do on a rainy day? Thankfully this small but very impressive museum kept us both informed and occupied. The interactive displays, touchable copies of artefacts and 'experimental room' (where kids of all ages can practice prehistoric crafts like making fire, drilling axe heads and spinning wool) were excellent. The wheel exhibition is top-class museumship and apparently going on tour around Europe soon.

“Elegant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2013

We visited and saw the impressive wheel exhibit. The floor map pinpointing the archaeological sites and the dates when they were first excavated was well done and an important addition to the exhibit. The film was also very informative. We would have loved to have seen the children's touch/story room in use--a good approach to learning. Other exhibits in the museum are important in giving a history of the city.
