My wife, son and I selected Hotel Cubo with the help of TripAdvisor and were not disappointed. It is a stylishly-modern hotel without being severely minimalist as is the fashion elsewhere. Staff were very helpful and the location proved to be better than I expected, being a very short walk (one long block) from Ljubljana's very pleasant and lively pedestrial walking streets.
There are no fitness facilities (I think) but there is a large city park nearby with great running paths and a municipal pool, which is probably available for use by visitors.
Breakfast was great.
Our only small problem was the apparent unresponsiveness of the high-tech in-room thermostat. Turns out that the central control system, which can be reset by the receptionist, holds the temperature at a fixed level, plus or minus 3 degrees Celsius. If you want to vary the temperature beyond that, you just need to mention it to the receptionist.
