“Historic Hotel located downtown Ljubljana”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2011

The hotel is situated downtown in a pedestrian area/ restricted
Driving area. Using a GPS to take you to the hotel you will probably find yourself arriving at a parking deck that is two blocks
from the hotel. We parked in this deck and walked to the hotel to find out what the best way to drive directly in front of the hotel was. We were promptly greeted by reception and given a map that showed us how to drive thru the pedestrian street in front of the hotel. The receptionist came out to the street and used a card to lower the barriers to the area so would could pull right up to the hotel.  The hotel owns two parking spaces that are 1 block away from the hotel. These spots are 20 euros/night. There is also a parking lot that Is a few blocks away for 17 euros. The parking deck we initially parked in was 40/euros a night had we chosen to leave our car there.  After check-in we were shown to suite XI. When you walk thru the first door there is a sitting room with a bar and an expresso machine. There is also a 1/2 bath attached to this room. The actual suite is ridiculously big. The bedroom
Is connected to a living room which has a large tv. The shower is ultra modern and looks slightly like a transporter from Star Trek "beam me up Scotty".  Inside the shower there is a electronic panel that controls the water and music. This would already be a extremely huge suite but we still havent been to the other half yet where there
Is another large patlor with couches, chandiliers, and a fire place (don't think it works).  The furniture fits in nicely. The only out of place decoration are the paintings which seem way too modern for the furniture. This was the largest hotel suite we have stayed  in during almost 3 years in Europe. We paid about 160 euros including a great breakfast spread on booking.com. Would definitely stay again! Very
Dog friendly hotel. Very friendly staff!

Having just returned from The Antiq Palace Hotel & Spa I feel compelled to write about the lovely experience we had. We had a slightly difficult time finding the hotel, but all worries were forgotten when we were graciously greeted by Olga at the reception. She showed us around the hotel and then brought us to our room. As a family of four it is always difficult to find comfortable accommodations in European hotels, however the Antiq Palace proved to be perfect. The “rooms” are a cross between upscale hotel rooms and short-term rental apartments with plenty of room to relax and stretch out (and even a full kitchen). One evening we reserved the gym/spa area, which had been prepared for us in advance with candles and music and was truly lovely. Breakfast was also abundant and delicious.
What really sets this hotel apart however is the wonderful staff. Everyone we encountered was lovely, but Olga was exceptional. She gave wonderful recommendations for restaurants (both to go with or without children) and made us feel at home without ever being the slightest bit overbearing. All in all it was a great experience (we even plan on returning later this year!).

I stayed with my two adult daughters at this Hotel in central Ljubljana whch is a lovely City. Our accomodation was superb. Clean, spacious and very comfortable. Only drawback for us was that our suite did not have a walk-in shower. The courtyard is something special. The staff were fantastic in that without exception they were all friendly, very helpful and engaging. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ljubljana.

Room Tip: If you need a walk-in shower ask if your room has one.

Our overall experience was very good. Anton and the receptionist (whose name we do not know) are simply fantastic. They are very hard working and incredibly solicitous. The hotel is very well located in a city where everything is very (very) close. Rooms are huge and beds are good. The decor is fine and the bed is good. Bathroom is not great but not bad. Quality of breakfast is very good. The hotel, however, does not quite reach the level of a true boutique hotel. There is no food service after breakfast, the minibar in the room is not well stocked, and, in spite of the fantastic energy of the employees, at times the place is short of staff (during breakfast time for example and early in the morning). It would be an improvement if they had a concierge who could give advise. We want to stress again Anton's work. He is outstanding!!!!!

When I entered inside I felt like home. Hours of flying here was forgotten in a moment. At reception there was a lady who gave me a strong impression to be really wellcome.
After I reached my room, well in fact it was not a room, it was big flat.Hotel is in old, In guess it's about 500 years old building that leaves no room for anything, but to be home there. I felt to be home. The gardens, as photos shows, made me relaxed. It was like in movie, where everything is just as it should be.

It was a business trip and i am happy I was there, because I found a place to go with a whole family. Wife is already eager to come there when I showed here just photos. We cancelled Paris and reserved for Ljubljana. It's like when you discover a pearl. I just did.

All I can tell - this is not just a Hotel, it's like be Home. To be in city and in the same time to be far enough to be in silence.

We had a two room suite that for the price I thought was spectacular. My two year old claimed the master bed right right away and slept like a princess in very nice bedding and copious amounts of various sized pillows with incredibly interesting frescoes on the ceiling. My wife and I and our son were a fair walk from there in another large bedroom with two double beds made up as one. Jacuzzi tub was huge and appeared new. Nice kitchen with oven and dishes.
The staff were great from start to finish. Helping with parking and dinner reservations that both turned out great.
Courtyard is beautiful, lobby and lounge very nice reminding you of the history in the building. Although strangely, I was left wanting to know more about the history aside from the stated "former nobility residence". The staff weren't able to shed light on it any further.
location is great, on the fringe of the pedestrian zone less than 5 minutes from the 3 bridges If you are driving here, park outside the gate and go to check in, the staff have a key fob for the gate. In addition, there is a brand new lift installed. We rode it up to the first floor, can't imagine it doesn't go all the way up. I was too busy marvelling at what a futuristic design it had to notice any other buttons.
Breakfast was nice with fresh/hot pastries, and a semi-automated juicer which we liked a lot. They had a big pile of oranges next to it. The room is my favourite room in the hotel, it has a lot character, it would be simply unleavable if it were winter and the fireplace was going.
When we return to Ljubljana, we will hope to stay here again, although by then I'm sure that the popularity of both the Antiq Palace and Ljubljana will have grown, and with it, the prices. Because the Antiq Palace is the best value accom I've seen in recent history.

Room Tip: check in starts at 1pm, get there early to nab one of two ideal parking spots, and to choose a room...
