“Best meal in a seven week trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2014

We had the superb degustation menu at Spajza. It was a balmy night so we were offered the choice of a table inside or in the rear courtyard garden, We chose the garden which was delightful.
The menu was fantastic showcasing superb fresh spring produce, including white asparagus and morels. All courses were sensational hard to pick our favourite, although my husband loved the scrambled egg with wild garlic and truffles, I particularly enjoyed the spelt ravioli filled with goats' cheese served with pheasant ragout and the rare eye fillet of venison with parsnip puree.
The wine sold by the glass and our waitress's recommendations perfectly matched our food, sparkling rose and a pinot noir both excellent Slovenian wines.
The meal was well paced so each course could be savoured without feeling rushed or any lengthy delays.
Finally the bread alone deserves a special mention, made in house it was outstanding.
Only one regret we couldn't get a reservation for our second night so book well ahead or as soon as you arrive in Ljubljana.

“Like a dream”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014 via mobile

First of all, sorry for the delay. We were in Lubjana for the New Year's Eve in 2012/2013. We decided to avoid the dinner (too expensive) and we booked for the lunchtime the New Year's Day. Everything was perfect: the music in background, the kindness of the staff, the price and, of course, the food. If you are in Lubjana, you have to try Spajza

“Gute Speise, but not for handicapped”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2014

Spajza means "food", and comes close to the German word for it. It's a very good restaurant, a bit pricy, but it's one of the few in Ljubljana that are open on Sunday evening. In fact, on Sunday evenings, Spajza is the best you can get (on other evenings, competition is more intense). A distinct drawback (for handicapped) is that Spajza is located in the car-free part of Gornji street, and that you'll have to walk 300m from the nearest drop-off place for taxi's. Cooking is inspired on Italian cuisine, but with distinct local traits, and the wine list is worthwhile.

“Great food, good wine, slightly overprized”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2014

A very charming place, with good service and terrific food, as well as a good selection of wines. Definitely the best restaurant we went to in Ljubljana, though we had the feeling, and locals confirmed so, that it was slightly overprized.

“Good meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

If you want to eat good fish - Šajza is a very good selection. Also other food that they offering is very good quality. They have a great codfish pate. Špajza is a good place for a business lunch / dinner. Pleasing ethno space and very friendly staff.
