We had the superb degustation menu at Spajza. It was a balmy night so we were offered the choice of a table inside or in the rear courtyard garden, We chose the garden which was delightful.
The menu was fantastic showcasing superb fresh spring produce, including white asparagus and morels. All courses were sensational hard to pick our favourite, although my husband loved the scrambled egg with wild garlic and truffles, I particularly enjoyed the spelt ravioli filled with goats' cheese served with pheasant ragout and the rare eye fillet of venison with parsnip puree.
The wine sold by the glass and our waitress's recommendations perfectly matched our food, sparkling rose and a pinot noir both excellent Slovenian wines.
The meal was well paced so each course could be savoured without feeling rushed or any lengthy delays.
Finally the bread alone deserves a special mention, made in house it was outstanding.
Only one regret we couldn't get a reservation for our second night so book well ahead or as soon as you arrive in Ljubljana.
