“After Hotel Cubo, the best restaurant in Ljubljana”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Eating here is not cheap, but what you get is excellent service and fine food - and pretty good wine. Appetizers of finest shredded and marinated ham, topped with Parmesan and rocket appeared within minutes and were a taste sensation. Venison was cooked to perfection, as was my wife's duck breast with vegetables and cognac sauce. We ate in an open courtyard and candles were lit as the evening progressed. This was not just a meal, but rather a great dining and cultural experience. Unreservedly recommended.

“great meal, fantastic location”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

This restaurant is worth a visit just to look at the fantastic old building, the food's not bad either! As vegetarians our choices were limited, however what we had was mostly really nice. We had asparagus with walnut sauce to start. second course I had pasta with truffles, my wife had gnocchi with garlic pesto. Home made ice-cream for dessert. Mine was fine, wife not too keen on hers. Excellent bottle of white wine, total 80 euros. Nice ambiance, I would recommend this place.

“Sparkling Spajza”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Traditional Slovenian restaurant serving updated vernacular cooking. Slightly off the main tourist trail at the southern edge of the old town. Smart but welcoming decor spread over several rooms. Very tempting tasting menu but settled on the a la carte, which showed variety and imagination, particularly with regard to the range of carnivorous options on offer. Excellent freebie starter of smoked equine cheek with parmesan and basil showed a Mediterranean influence which was prevalent throughout. Sweet, fleshy scallops pan-fried and served on exquisite and colourful asparagus and cauliflower purees, followed by substantial but tender veal medallions with perfect souffle potato. A traditional pudding with poppy seeds, cloves and cinnamon provided an aromatic coda. The very friendly service achieved that difficult balance of being attentive and interested without intrusion or condescension. Local wines served by the glass, and all this for less than thirty euros a head. Not only fine Slovenian cooking but fine cooking by any criterion. Do not miss if in Ljubljana.

“Wow, what a surprise!”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

At first sight, it was strange to me that there was no menu outside, so we had no clue about the prices. We peeped in, and there was nobody inside (at least we thought). Later we discovered that the restaurant has many rooms. A day later we turned back, because the good critics we read about the place. I had the best lamb EVER! The service was excellent, the wine were grate, the food was delicious. Thank you!

“Tradition and evolution”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

Traditional restaurant, with innovation and fine cuisine. Inside the atmosphere is great: caring of details and furnished in very good taste. It was Easter and we decide to have a late lunch. Of course they were open even at 3.30pm. The menù is wide and appetizing. They offer both fish and meat. Each dish is very accurate and served in a professional way. They have also a good offer of wines in bottles. We opted for a loose wine from the Solvenian Region called Brda and it was very good!
The price is adequate at the level of food and service.
It would be nice to come back and use their outside space during the summer.
