As a party of five people, we spent a week over Christmas 2012 at Alp Penzion. Mateja, the wonderful owner/operator of the Penzion had been in contact with me over the previous year, answering my questions about things to do in and around Lake Bled. Our stay was fabulous. The rooms were clean, the breakfast buffet suited all members of our group and the dinners were both delicious and real value for money. The special Christmas Eve dinner was memorable: the atmospherics of an open fire, Slovenian Christmas decorations, the table arrangements and the fabulous food all made for a truly unforgettable evening. Mateja went out of her way to ensure we had a great stay - even driving us to the local ice-skating rink on Christmas Day so that our son could enjoy a skating session. When one of our party misplaced two rings in a local restaurant, Mateja rang the restaurant concerned to help overcome the language barrier and retrieve the rings. We plan to stay again at the Penzion and enjoy their special Slovenian hospitality.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the mountains.

Though a 10 minute walk to the lake and town, it is worth it.Flashlights help navigate nighttime forays into town. The mountains lend an idyllic feel to the chalet like hotel. The wonderful breakfast with homemade cakes, eggs to order and personal touches make the stay delightful. The staff are so warm and friendly, you want to live here!

We stayed 4 nights at the Alp Penzion on October 2012. The room was cosy, comfortable and clean. The sheets and pillow cases were especially soft. The service was superb. Breakfast was excellent. We also had dinner once, and it was very tasty and the price is more than reasonable. The hotel is about 10 minute walk from the lake, so a car is a necessity (especially at night).
The spa is amazing, both in terms of looks and in terms of service. We really hope to have the opportunity to visit there again.

We just had a wonderful stay at the Alp Penzion last weekend. The hotel is built in a traditional style, and is located in a quiet area (10 min walk to the Lake Centre but out of the main roads). The room is nice, clean, with good view and new furniture. Breakfast was wonderful (a large variety of choices and fresh ingredients). Their dinner was fantastic: all the four courses were super delicious (you've got to try it!). The staff (especially the owner) were very nice, friendly, helpful and they did all the best to provide us with the most enjoyable experience.

I like their motto "come as a guest, leave a friend". It is really true in our case.

Location: As others have mentioned walking into town at night is a little daunting due to no footpaths and dark however the walk was fine during the day and as the Penzion is a little out of town it is very relaxing and great place to stay.
10 minute walk to the Lake which takes a few hours to walk around due to the amount of time you have to spend taking magnificent photos. Also 10 minute walk to The Adventure Park - if you have not heard of it you MUST go - brilliant tree climbing course in the midst of the forest.

Food: Unbelievable breakfast and 4 course dinner. We were a family of 5 with 3 children aged 13,11 and 6 and they ate everything they could find at breakfast and at dinner they just swapped with each other their favourite bits.

Staff: So kind and helpful - they had answers for everything. Thankyou.

Rooms: We had 2 rooms next to each other which suited us perfectly. There is a family apartment there which accommodates 5. Comfy beds. See photos.

Other stuff: Free Wifi plus a computer downstairs which is attached to free wifi too. Great garden with magnificent view, free bikes, Great value for money. No lifts so make sure you can lift your luggage.

Would stay here again.
