“Strange and beautiful”
Reviewed August 30, 2014

The gorge is near enough to walk to from Bled, or there is a regular bus service. Very striking rock formations and beautifully clear river water.

“Spectacular gorge location near Lake Bled”
Reviewed August 30, 2014

We enjoyed a ~4km walk from Lake Bled to the Vintgar gorge entrance. For a €4 entrance fee you can enjoy a 1.6km walk on paths or wooden walkway over, along or across the river as it cuts through the gorge ending with a good view of a big waterfall. We enjoyed the woodland walk to the Katarina church where there is a cafe and spectacular views across the whole valley. A return walk via Zasip village was interesting with numerous paths marked on the tourist map seemingly unused or incorrect. An interesting mini-adventure!

“Amazing nature”
Reviewed August 29, 2014

I walked from Bled (4km), and the small villages I passed through were very beatiful. But when I arrived to the entrance of Vintgar Gorje I was astonished. The waterfall, the path made of woods, the river...it was a fantastic place

“Stunning but get there early!”
Reviewed August 26, 2014

Vintgar Gorge is stunningly beautiful. From the main car park, you pay a small admission fee - 4 Euros per person (reductions for children). You can then walk through the gorge, pausing to look at waterfalls. The path is reasonable underfoot but there are some steps so not suitable for the less mobile. Nevertheless, whilst we wore walking boots, others managed in lightweight footwear. I guess that after a lot of rainfall you'd need better footwear.

The biggest problem is that the gorge is on the itinerary of many coach tours, and you are very likely to be part of a procession of people passing through the gorge. As the paths are narrow, the opportunities to pass others are limited. Get there early and you will avoid the worst of this.

At the far end of the gorge, pass the ticket hut on your left, and go down the steps to cross the bridge for a good view of the waterfall.
