I was very lucky when I visited - they had a particularly bad winter and had to open late after they repaired the path. I happened to show up opening day.

Wow. What a view. This was definitely the best thing I did while visiting Bled.

The gorge is just a 15 minute bike ride from "downtown" Bled. But beware - from Bled to the Gorge is mostly uphill!

We visited the gorge in winter. It is officially closed due to snow falling onto and blocking the path, making it risky. However we decided to try as there were already several sets of footprints leading the way. We got part way then decided to turn back as the snow was just too thick. Was still a beautiful walk though and I imagine very different from summer as we were the only 2 people there!

This gorge is really worth to see. Beautiful water with fish, small waterfalls, narrow bridges/waterways.
It depends on the actual date, but in mid-summer the best time to visit it is around 1pm, as then the sun shines in and you can see several rainbows above the waterfalls. And it is a good time to cool down from summer hotness. Near the (north-west?) entrance there is a good restaurant with local fish - trout - specialities.

During winter the gorge is officially closed, although it's still possible to go into it. We did; however beware of treacherous conditions - snowfalls on the path and melting icicles both present a risk. We deliberately took an alternative approach back to avoid the gorge, to reduce the chance of an accident. Although I'd still say it's worth it if you're feeling up to it (had to do a bit of clambering over snow, and sometimes the path had no handrails)
